Purchased this saw recently to replace a 30 year old Bosch/Bigfoot that has been my stand by. Has plenty of power for seat cuts and notches in 6x6 posts. Have not had to do any long rips yet.Advertising info claims the saw will cut compound miter cuts. I found myself needing to cut diagonal tails at 38 degrees with the beveled dressing. I set the saw to 45 for the bevel and proceeded with the cut at 38-degree angle. The bevel was off by 9 degrees when checked with a square after finishing. was very disappointed that the saw would not cut what I needed. I took it home and set it up, side by side with the bigfoot. Once again drawing all the angles and bevel lines ahead of the cutting test. Both saws were wide on the bevel by about 9 degrees. After searching I found a video making small decorative 6-sided boxes with angled and beveled sidewalls. It was only then I discovered I needed to treat the cuts like crown molding. So to get a compound cut in a prehistoric, treated handrail post you still have to use the formula as if it was a piece of 45/45 crown. After resetting the saw at 35.3 bevel for a vertical post (90) it cut a beautiful 38 angle with 45 degree bevel diagonal tail cut. I guess you could use a sliding compound that would handle a 6x6 to do this but glad I finally figured it out. Skil should include a reminder and possibly a chart of degree and bevel values since they are all about customer service. The phone reception team has no hands-on tool experience and therefore cannot help you with a problem like the one I experienced. I can now say I have actually forgotten more than I had ever learned. If you are cutting miters you need the bigfoot blade. The Diablo is silky smooth but will flex under strain but better for the straight cuts. When I go to work on Monday, I will take 2 10-inch saws ... show more

Five stars, enthusiastically and without reservation. The SKILSAW SPT70WM-01 SAWSQUATCH is not a circular saw so much as a controlled demolition device disguised as a tool. This thing has absurd power. The 15-amp motor paired with the worm drive torque goes through thick lumber like physics briefly stopped applying. Full depth cuts, wet framing, stacked material, awkward angles — it doesn’t slow down, complain, or pretend this emphasizes “user technique.” You point it. It obeys. Despite the size and capability, the magnesium construction keeps the weight shockingly reasonable. It’s heavy enough to feel planted and confident, but not punishing to use all day. Balance is excellent, visibility is clear, and the cut line feels honest — no wandering, no drama, no surprises. The depth and bevel adjustments are solid and confidence-inspiring, not the flimsy afterthoughts found on cheaper saws. This is a tool clearly designed by people who expect it to be used hard, repeatedly, and without sympathy. Is it overkill for weekend plywood trimming? Absolutely. Is it perfect for anyone who cuts serious lumber and wants a saw that simply dominates every task? Also absolutely. If you buy this saw, you won’t think about upgrading again. This thing cuts through 4x4s like they are made out of styrofoam. I do woodworking as a hobby, and I bought this and a track as a safer alternative to a table saw. The provided blade made short work of the 4x4s I cut with it and the notches on the base make it easy to follow lines for accurate cuts. I've never had a worm drive saw before, and it has got some serious power that I was not expecting. It's quite heavy, but its also giant, so I'm not surprised.
