Why did you pick this product vs others?: I picked this model because I already had a Skil 40V chain saw, and leaf blower. All the tools have interchangeable batteries, so I can use up one battery, and just replace it with a different charged one. However, I really wish Skil would sell tool-only since now I'm accumulating batteries and chargers. The trimmer makes short work of even overgrown vegetation. In about an hour, I was able to cut a forsythia back 2 - 3 feet along a 15' front without needing to recharge the battery. Spent more time bagging the clippings than cutting. Although the manual says that it will handle limbs up to 3/4", I find that about 1/2" is about as thick as I want to go with this, at least with a forsythia. With the 2.5 A-h battery, the trimmer is sufficiently light that I can be hold at arm's length at any angle. Unlike a chain saw, this trimmer can be used left hand or right hand on the trigger. Comes in handy when needing to work around obstacles. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have the Skil Pwr Core 40v blower, and absolutely love it. Seems like all their tools come with battery/charger so I figured it would be great to have two batteries. Well, I charged up the battery out of the box, and completely finished two LARGE 52 year old Holly bushes. I didn't measure the branch width, but I feel VERY certain this will cut up to 3/4" as advertised. It cut through all branches like a hot knife through butter!! No binding or bogging down.. Still plenty of charge left after job. Cannot recommend this enough. Probably not for a professional every day landscaper doing a lot of hedge pruning/shaping....but for the homeowner (even with a lot of items to trim) it's absolutely perfect. ... show more

Happy with this. Didn’t want to spend the money on the Ridgid trimmer (I have a lot of the 18v batteries for them), so I was looking into a cheaper alternative. The Ridgid is $179. Very pleasantly surprised. Has held its charge for 6 hedge trims without having to charge the battery. Doesn’t cut real thick branches, but I’m not expecting it to. It’s a light duty trimmer. Bought this on sale for prime day along with a weed whip and leaf blower from Skil. Figured I'd have two batteries to move between everything. Unfortunately this came with a 2 Ah battery and the weed whip came with a 4 Ah battery. I have a hard time faulting this kit though because a 2 Ah battery is plenty of run time for the trimmer whereas a 4 Ah battery isn't enough run time for the weed whip. So this is something to consider if you're buying this to get another battery to switch between tools. That little point aside I can't knock a star for it since the battery is fine for this equipment. It has plenty of power and I was able to trim all 6 of my hedges that had not been trimmed in 3 years on a single charge without a problem. Now I won't need to use it till next year probably. It had plenty of power and didn't bog down. The controls were a bit of a pain to get going as there is a safety and a button to engage but I got used to it. I like how light weight this is, only a smidge heavier than my corded model but without the 200 feet of cord to drag around. So long as it lasts a few years it should be a good fit. Also used it to trim down a decent sized field of weeds some 1/2" thick without much issue. ... show more
