I bought this for a light duty Home use. It seems to work very well for what I bought it for Small househould projects and repairs. I like that it was well priced. It cuts evenly and straight. Easy to use and easy to load the blade.

I did buy a HF jig saw (the “W” brand, not the “B”brand) on sale for about half the price as this saw but was disappointed in the quality & performance of it… and I own lots HF products that I have worked well for me. I bought this Skil jig saw to compare before I returned the HF saw. I would say this jig saw is 4x the value of the lower priced saw. The build & power is solid and the halo light is very cool. About the only thing I could knock about it is the quick blade change feature. It uses a push down approach like how one would change a tool on an air hose. I don’t find this as easy as the quarter twist method like I have on my reciprocating saw or some other jig saws (hex wrench adjustments? No way!). For me, I have a little trouble fishing my fingers in the small blade area to keep pressure on the latching mechanism while simultaneously inserting the blade. I’ve gotten better at it and, really, changing a blade is a small amount of the total usage time. This is just a very minor quirk (for me) on this otherwise well thought out tool. This jig saw well worth the extra money, imo, over a lower-end saw for the DYI-er. It meets my occasional use of it exceedingly well. And I like how the bright red color adds a little “pop” to my assortment of black, green, and teal power tools when working on a project. It certainly makes it easy to spot. :-) ... show more

An addition to my corded tool collection, while cordless is easier to deploy, you can't beat corded tools from performance and long life, no batteries to change or charge or forget. My truck has two sets of power tools one corded along with a Jackery 1500 if their is no power on the job site. Small jobs get the M12, larger ones get the Dewalt XR tools and big jobs get the corded or air power tools depending on the size of the job. Full renovation with a crew make a compressor and air tools worth the effort, smaller jobs where we're in and out every day, the cordless tools come and go with us. No tool is ideal for everything. Overall, it works great. Ramps up to speed quickly and cuts fast. My only complaint is that the angle can never truly be set to a perfect 90° and the blade and cut guide don't line up with each other either. I know it's not meant for precision cuts, but it's frustrating to have to cut at a slight angle all the time. ... show more

This is a great little jig saw for DIY and intermediate woodworking projects. Recommend getting some better blades to put on this for cleaner cuts. I would recommend this tool, personally have a lot of battery-powered tools but I like having some corded options around.
