I did buy a HF jig saw (the “W” brand, not the “B”brand) on sale for about half the price as this saw but was disappointed in the quality & performance of it… and I own lots HF products that I have worked well for me. I bought this Skil jig saw to compare before I returned the HF saw. I would say this jig saw is 4x the value of the lower priced saw. The build & power is solid and the halo light is very cool. About the only thing I could knock about it is the quick blade change feature. It uses a push down approach like how one would change a tool on an air hose. I don’t find this as easy as the quarter twist method like I have on my reciprocating saw or some other jig saws (hex wrench adjustments? No way!). For me, I have a little trouble fishing my fingers in the small blade area to keep pressure on the latching mechanism while simultaneously inserting the blade. I’ve gotten better at it and, really, changing a blade is a small amount of the total usage time. This is just a very minor quirk (for me) on this otherwise well thought out tool. This jig saw well worth the extra money, imo, over a lower-end saw for the DYI-er. It meets my occasional use of it exceedingly well. And I like how the bright red color adds a little “pop” to my assortment of black, green, and teal power tools when working on a project. It certainly makes it easy to spot. :-) ... show more

Have to admit as a pro in installing floors, baseboards and trim, this is a go to/must have. It literally is great to use, easy blade change, guide light that actually works, smooth operation. This guy is a great value for the money and I have put it through the paces, can not say enough on how this Jig has eased my coping and trimming just through the light weight and power contained. ... show more

This is a nice jigsaw and is certainly worth the price. It has plenty of power and makes quick work of most materials. It is on the heavy side but it has a decent build and doesn't feel flimsy in any way. It also has several features found on significantly higher priced saws such as the LED halo light, tool-free blade change, variable speed with lockable trigger, and bevel adjustment. While it is advertised as including two blades, be sure to order some when you order the saw. I opened the sealed box to find only 1 very flimsy and very bent metal blade. The wood blade was nowhere to be found. Most likely, the blade fell out of the box as they are not packaged properly and are just loose in the box. To be honest, the blades seem very of poor quality so you should get better blades anyway. Regardless, it is a nice jig saw so purchase with confidence...just don't forget extra blades. ... show more

Tool cuts well, stays where you want it, and the LED is invaluable. Using a fine cut blade as opposed to a speed blade, it's fairly slow. If you let the saw lead, the cutting is smooth, but the more you force it, the more jerky the cut feels. Don't know if this is a tool grade issue, or just a jigsaw issue in general. Well, it is hard to jigsaw to cut straight, right? So, I decided to build up a jig so the base of this saw can put in the track to cut...but it seems not work that way for this one...I tried to put on 2 bases for try and the track was fenced with aluminum fence...but it did not work. the build quality seems good though. I just don't know why this does not cut straight even on track. ... show more
