  • put that gas valve in the wall
Easy install on new construction. The stove will slide all the way back against the wall.

  • Not really for 3/4" CSST, even though Amazon suggests it
Amazon suggests this for 3/4" csst, but it really means 1/2" or 3/4" iron pipe, and 1/2" csst. It only has all the parts for iron pipe: this model doesn't come with an adapter for csst. (See photo of instruction flyer for model #s.) Csst need model 696-1020, and it doesn't specify whether it would fit 3/4" csst, or only 1/2". This can work for 3/4" csst line, but I had to order a 3/4" female x csst adapter from HD (didn't find one on Amazon, and Lowe's lacked info on sizing). Amazon, and pretty much all the major retailers, don't provide enough information to order the right parts the first time. This is nuisance because 3/4" csst isn't available locally. So I'll lay out my experience, so hopefully you all can spend less time sorting out your projects. Amazon's one photo only shows the finished install - I needed to see what comes out below the box. The lack of information is lame. See photos for what actually came in this package. Context: my application is my own home, with a hydronic boiler for heat, and a gas stove. We're converting from forced air to hydronic on our old farmhouse, and gleaned enough extra room from ripping out old furnace and ductwork to make a new bathroom, if I could move the gas line. Also, minimal crawlspace makes cast iron radiators and oxygen-barrier pex a better solution than the outdated ducts. Easier to insulate the heating too. I chose CSST because it doesn't require specialty tools, and I can size the lengths as I go (rather than sending a supplier precise measurements made while crawling under my house!). I ended up needing 2 of these outlet boxes, 2 female adapters at the boxes, 1 tee, 1 male adapter to tie into the meter, 6x 1' lengths of metal sheathing (to protect thru floor and up 3' in the walls), strapping to hang it from the joists, 1 specialty cutter, 2 wrenches, utility knife, yellow pipe tape and soapy water spray bottle to check for leaks. I also bought 1 male-to-male in case I cut something too short and needed to splice it. I had to buy the tee off ebay because 3/4" is hard to find, and my pipe runs were too long to step down to 1/2" and still get the BTUs required by my boiler (there's charts online). I could have gone smaller on the stove line, but I'd rather leave open my options for a fancy stove in the future, and it's cheaper to buy a bigger spool of csst line in one size. With this box, you can always buy a cheap bushing if you need to fit a 1/2" appliance. Good luck, fellow DIYers! ... show more

  • Great Product
This was a great product. I couldn't find one in the main hardware stores. When you can't find it, go to Amazon. Everything is working excellent.

  • Clean look for gas shutoff.
Relatively easy install with a clean look and low profile box for my range gas shutoff.

  • Great!! These should come standard in all new houses.
We looked at all the big box stores and at the local hardware store and we couldn't find any of these. We are currently redoing our kitchen and our gas supply line stuck out 2 inches from the wall behind the stove near the top of the stove. With this outlet box and an 18" pipe we were able to move the gas line to the bottom of the stove (where the new stove has built in space for the gas line) and push the stove back against the wall. ... show more

  • Fixed my “popped out stove” issue
This allows me to push my stove all the way back to the wall. Before, it would stick out 2” from the wall from the existing gas pipe. I bought a 3/4 male 90 with a 5/8” flare to keep the gas line inside the recessed box. Great upgrade and the price is right.
