I'm using these to rewire an old plaster and lathe house. The old lathe goes up like gasoline after its dried for 100 years and coated with coal dust from coal fired heating back in the day. If there is an electrical spark in a box in the wall cavity at some point, I would rather have that contained in metal than plastic. The metal boxes can also be secured much more rigidly to the wall. These boxes do have a UL stamp on them which you're going to need for an install in the US. The only negative thing about them is there is not a bump out for the ground wire attachment. In my install I just drill a relief hole in the wood behind the box to make room for the ground screw. Not a big deal for me and the lack of the bump out does give you a little more room inside. I also bought some metal boxes of the same size from the local Menards and surprisingly they do have the ground screw bump out in the box. Having used both, I kinda prefer these boxes without the bump since it gives up a little more room in these boxes to pack in your wires. ... show more

Just what I wanted - competitive $$. Used to pay 78 cents for these though, I guess I am getting old. These are the 2.125 inch boxes, the 1.875 inch box used to cost 40 cents !! All electric supplies have really gone up, but it’s a relief finding just what you need.
