  • Great machine, just not for the beginner
This is my second embroidery machine (Brother SE400). I really wanted a larger field, but just couldn't bring myself to pay thousands of dollars for a field this large. I went into this not expecting the best, especially after all of the other singer embroidery reviews. I really love this machine and am very happy with it. I first read the manual and when I received this a week before Christmas I immediately started using it. I will say there is a definite learning curve. I don't use the machines preset tension (2.8) I usually bump it down to 2.2 or 2.0. I love the large embroidery field, especially for the price of the machine. The touch screen is easy to use and I really like the easy snap hoops. Even better then my brother hoops. I just make sure that I am extra careful and insert them straight because of people saying that the machine quits registering them after a while. I have made t-shirts and other personalized gifts with this and have had no problems. I have had no problems importing designs into the machine from the provided USB stick. I will say this is not a machine for the beginner, definitely get a brother if you are just starting out. This machine is a little loud but everything has stitched out beutifully and I have used it almost everyday for personal use and for use in my shop. ... show more

  • Worth the pricr
I've had this machine for about a week. I wanted a larger embroidery field. It's my first singer I own a brother PE 770 and a brother PE 400. I like the singer superb because it's 6 x 10 it's a little hard to figure out at first also I don't think the manual gives enough information to help with troubleshooting. But the reason I game it a 4 star is because it doesn't show you what colors to use you have to always have a computer out to know the colors or I pull out one of my brother machine's and put the same pattern so I know what colors to use. Other then that it's really worth the price and I would recommend the superb em 200 to anyone that wants a larger field and who doesn't mind having to have there computer close by ... show more

  • Do you research before you commit to the singer Em200
I have had this machine for 6 mo. I embroider something every week it seems. While at the beginning it seem to do fine, this machines has a LOT of things to improve. The tension seem horrible, it does not a bobing sensor (so if you don't pay attention, you may be several stitches into it and no lower threat) , you will break needles left and right. Please know that the warranty is HORRIBLE and singer will not help! The machine has a 90 day for the any of the lights, alignment or the machine as a whole, then you have a 2 year warranty for electric and motor. Am experiencing issues with my needle arm, it seem as if after 6 mo of use it has gotten out of line. My needle when it lowers it hits the bobbin housing not allowing it to go down and it will break the needle (depending how hard and were it hits) I contacted the 1800 number for singer and I live in Kentucky and they told me to ship the machine to Indianapolis because they don't have a authorized retailer in the whole state of Kentucky! I check with my post office and I will have to pay around $150 to ship it one way!!!! That is WITHOUT paying for the repair that is NOT COVER By the warranty. Imagine my frustration when 6 months into this I have $800 machine that it does not work! This machine is new and singer has a lot of ground to be able to compete with pffaf, brother, baby lock I will encourage you to do your homework and check if your state has a authorized retailer. If not you will be stock looking a local person that will be willing to work on your machine and may void your warranty. ... show more

I bought this with the the sole intention of just doing monograms and names on pillows that my wife sells. I was impressed with the look and design of the machine. The manual and machine itself was great and walks you through a lot of the how to and such. It was pretty easy to thread and setup. I ran into issues with the actual performance of the machine despite trying the recommended combinations of fabrics, stabilizer, and needles. I spent about 4 hours trying to get a quality stitch for a simple monogram and I was pretty disappointed when I was done. I bought it when it was first released and I decided to return it after 2 days worth of so so performance. This product is probably fine for home use, but I think if you want a quality that you can sell it is best to spend more and pick up a used higher quality machine. ... show more

  • While the machine embroideries beautiful, I am fortunate I am not a beginner ...
While the machine embroideries beautiful, I am fortunate I am not a beginner and I have a program to alter/edit various embroidery files. This machine does not come with that type of program; you can pull up a design on the "intro" program as they call it, but you can not edit or even move the item. That was a little disappointing as the other two Singer embroidery machines I have will allow you to edit and move. Other than that fact the machine is great and embroideries perfectly. ... show more

  • Horrible Tension Issues
Ok, three months in and I'm changing my review. The only projects that have come out completely as I wanted were projects where i used designs that came with the machine. At first I believed it was user error so I stuck with it and researched and read every article I could find o n this machine (there aren't many except for what is on the singer website which is not helpful at all!) EVERY SINGLE other project I do I have to adjust tension no matter the fabric/stabilizer/thread. Sometimes I have had to adjust tension in the MIDDLE of a project. I will be contact Singer and this is horrible but I'm hoping it's something wrong with my machine and not a design flaw because at this point I'm unable to return it. . . Thank goodness I purchased a protection plan! ... show more

  • I do not recommend this machine.
This embroidery machine did pretty well for the first few times I used it. It broke the thread a few times but I was able to back stitch so the design would not have any gaps. It seemed to get worse the more I used it. The last time I tried to use it, I worked with it for three hours trying to figure out why the thread was constantly breaking. At that point, I have up and returned it. Amazon was wonderful about the shipping costs and I got a full refund within 4 days. ... show more
