I have had Singer products for years as my mother did before me, so I was anxious to get this product. There is no manual and the one piece of paper guide was not very helpful. I had a terrible time getting this to work. The front loading bobbin was not a big problem as such, but that it constantly jams is. The machine is finicky, to say the least. I actually had to go to YouTube for information since the Singer site was not as helpful as I wanted it to be. I finally had to call the local Singer repair shop for help and they told me the side loading bobbin has some known issues. I am on the 5th bobbin which is finally working and the machine sews ok. But overall I am very disappointed with this purchase. The product was close to $200 and the minimum on repair is $100. Amazon only allows 30 days for a return. I wonder why. I'm adding on here about 1 month later. The machine seems to have worked out all its kinks-or I got better-and now works beautifully. No problem with any of the bobbins I am using and I have completed 5 projects without a hitch. I am totally converted to really liking this machine. I’ve never used a sewing machine before buying this one and I’m really happy with it. I watched one youtube tutorial on how to set it up and once I figured that out it was extremely simple. It’s exactly what I wanted for simple projects and getting used to using a machine. I have had some issues with thread jamming or tangling but I assume that’s probably a user error lol. This machine was so easy to start using. Load the bobbin, and it worked great. It's a metal frame. That's what I like.

    • Not like an old Singer
My last Singer sewing machine was my grandmother, my moms, than mine. It was over 65 yrs old, not sure how good my review will be I’m comparing it to very old machine. My old one was all metal & connected to a table that folded down and hide the sewing machine away, they just don’t make them like that anymore! And it still worked but it was old so I order new Singer (since the old one last over 65years) Positive: 1. Light weight easy to move 2. Has more features 3. It works, it does everything a sewing machine can do Negative: 1. This will not last 60 yrs all plastic except few parts 2. Slow why is it slow? my 60 yr old one goes faster 3. Didn’t come with a guided, lucky I had one on my old one it’s a magnet that you attach to the plate and then you run the material against it so you can keep a straight line.     • This machine is so cute, and also works good : )
I had trouble with it at first, it was bunching thread and making noise around the bobbin but I got some machine oil and removed and oiled the bobbin case and it works great. One other thing, some thread seems to be hard for the machine in the tension so there is nothing wrong with the machine but the thread could be too think or something. I just love it now ... show more

    • Falls apart. The bobbin assembly came apart, can't get it back together. Also the needle wiggles
I got this machine April 9, this year. It has constantly been one headache after another and now it's falling apart (the bobbin assembly), also needle wiggles and won't tighten completely, making thread knot and lock down the machine. No more Singers for me. Now I find out this item can't be returned after 30 days!! That's crazy, not enough time to find out if it's going to work properly or not. I expect better customer service out of Amazon for the price I paid for this sewing machine ... show more
