Description

The S0230 serger saves time by sewing a seam and seam finish at the same time, while trimming away the excess seam allowance. Seams and seam finishes – just like you see on store-bought garments – are possible thanks to the serger. You can use 2 threads, 3 threads or 4 threads for a variety of stitch combinations. Sew narrow hems on napkins, or stitch up a knit top with seams that stretch with the fabric without popping. Create a decorative edge around a fleece blanket for an extra bit of flair. Differential Feed allows you to sew super stretchy fabrics without the wavy distortion and sheers without puckering. The Built-in Free Arm makes it possible to sew around small sleeves and cuffs - great for children's clothing and more. You'll love the professional results your serger gives your projects.

  • Sturdy and functional!!
I researched several surgers and found this one to be the best and most sturdy with the best instructions.

  • Buried in 2 months
Purchased March 14,2023.I’ve had it 2 hours and am very happy with its sewing. I was able to switch between cotton and knit without needing any adjustments. I previously had a Brother 1634D as a starter machine. It was finicky and had costly repairs until it was done for. Update- 1 month later update- I have sewn many items of different fabrics and with no issues! May 19,2023. 3rd update. I had a timing issue and $30 repair last week. I was sewing double thickness cotton strip onto bird netting for our cherry tree. I had the cutter turned off. The machine “jammed” and the wheel locked. Took for repair and he said it wasn’t worth fixing because of parts and labor. $240 lost but I found a Juki MO 654de for $399. I don’t recommend this machine at all. Singer does not make new Singers like old Singers were made. Now they break with light usage ... show more

  • Wooooooow!! Greatest 1st serger!
This is my first serger and I can say that it is a life changing experience!! Machine is super cute, but I will talk about functional part. Singer is offering free educational class on their purchased machines, so you would go online and find Viking store near you, gave them a call and go, with your little machine so they can explain how to navigate it. How cool is that?! Even ladies from viking store were full of compliments on the machine. They pointed out: - machine have easier threading function - easier removing hand rests - ability to switch off cutting knife - machine is super cuuuuuuute!! I personally found it very pleasing that not much dirt stay inside of the machine, considering that is cutting off extra fabric. Love the stitch consistency and it is super easy yo use it. I was told that serger will make me super stressed at times but so far I enjoyed it hoe easy and professional stitches look a like. I come by viking store, just buying some fabric in joanee store, and ladies remembered me and told that they were just talking about my machine, how cool is it and how great would be and easy to sell if they had it in the stores. And I didn’t buy anything for their store so it mast be some good machine 100%! ... show more

  • Better than Brother, Bernette and Juki !!!
To start this is my 4th serger. I had the everyone’s first brother 1034D and it was a workhorse but eventually stopped performing well and timing would go off every month, becoming to frustrating to have fixed get back to only have 30 so days of use and start again.. I upgraded to the bernette serger which I immediately hated everything about down to the feel and returned, just didn’t vibe with me.. then splurged on a higher end juki which out of the box has issues with the left needle so I sent it in to be fixed, waiting months to even hear it’s been looked at led me to buy this on a whim just to be able to sew. Out of the box ready to go, extremely silent, fast, and is making me wish I just got 2 of these to keep threaded in black and white and never get the juki (which 4 months later still haven’t got back) Hoping for some sort of cut bin in future models of this, and presser feet attachments but overall I’m so happy with this $200 purchase and can’t believe how well it performs for its price point. This will be the serger I recommend to all sewists looking to get a serger. ... show more

  • Durable and Reliable
This model replaced an old Singer serger. I like that it is heavier and doesn't slide over the table when used. I can serge through multiple layers of upholstery-weight fabric with ease. So much easier to thread than the old model. The presser foot is wide, which makes serging edges with cording a problem. Can't get close enough to enclose the edges with a less than 1/2 inch seam allowance. Otherwise, it is a sturdy, reliable serger for my purposes. ... show more

  • Great for apparel
My wife needed a new surger, and she loves the show Making the Cut, so I thought it'd be perfect. For the price, you can't beat it! She's in love with all the features, especially the folded seam. Great value for the money.

  • WORST. MACHINE. EVER.
I have been sewing for almost 30 years and have never had a worse machine. I was so excited to upgrade my serger. The low price should have been a tip-off though. I spent 6 hours yesterday trying to make it work. The needles they sent broke almost instantly, and even when I changed to a heavier duty needle, they broke too. Upon inspection, the needles r not centered and pulled slightly to the right. Additionally, when I wasn't breaking needles, I couldn't get the threads to overlock at all. I repeatedly tried rethreading, thinking maybe I had missed a step or a thread had come loose to no avail. I tried every needed I owned plus a few I specifically bought just to try to make this machine work. I got a solid 5 inches of seam before the problems started. It's a good thing I have sewn on proper servers prior to this, because if I was a novice, this machine would make me want to quit before I even started. Normally the lack of an instruction booklet wouldn't be a problem for me, but the frustration of this machine just makes that the straw that broke the camels back because I couldn't even look up tips and tricks to help solve my issues. ... show more
