  • My Machine arrived EARLY! I've been sewing like a MANIAC!!!
Why did I buy this product from you? The following is my reply to a YouTube Video producer, "Tock Custom" on his channel. This should explain a lot... "Hello, Mr. Tock! I stumbled upon your videos a few days ago, quite by accident really and I watched one just for the hell of it. Then I watched another... Then one after that... Now I seam to be falling for your videos hooks, lining and Singer! You made the subject of sewing not only interesting but fascinating! In fact, I just ordered a Singer 44S Heavy Duty Sewing Machine from Amazon! Should arrive by this Saturday. DAMN YOU, SIR! I am an amateur illustrator, I'm 63 years old, male, retired, living in Colorado. Before viewing your videos, I was content just doing my artwork, riding a bike for recreation and hand sewing defects in my old, worn clothes. Now I feel the need to make my very own Inverness Cloak, a'la Barnabas Collins from "Dark Shadows!" (Something I've always wanted.) Again, "DAMN YOU, SIR!" Anyway, thank you for your inspiration (...grumble, grumble, retch!) and I look forward to whatever you have to show in the near future. If you want to see my artwork, look up the video; "Doc Savage, The Land of Terror!" on YouTube. Ah well, if nothing else at least I can hem my pants by myself now..." Anyway, my machine actually arrived early and I started sewing that day. I did hem a bunch of pants, which did satisfy me quite a bit. I went to a sewing supply and fabric store and bought a lot of things called 'notions' I'm in the middle of a bunch of projects now. Again, I'd like to say to 'Tock Custom,' "DAMN YOU, SIR!!!" ... show more

  • Not strong, not fast, not consistent, and not reliable
Allow me to begin by saying that this review is a reflection of solely the product. THE SELLER IS AMAZING. I emailed them the day I ordered to inquire about shipping turnaround, and not only did they respond right away, but they assured me that is have the machine within three or four days. And it was here the next day! So impressive. Now for the topic at hand: I'm not sure why the product is labeled "heavy duty", or why reviewers are touting it's strength. The machine is moderately capable of stitching layers or dense material. It's maximum speed is relatively slow, and it doesn't do well when pushed. Speaking of stitching, this (and every other similar machine I've had - singer 4000 somethings) have constant issues with topstitch tension. The thread is pulled too far beneath the fabric and bunches and tangles. it's three of these machines now, so I know it's not a fluke. This particular one is only two days old. In a nutshell, it's eh. Take it or leave it. You're probably better off spending more on something better. And I don't think I'd recommend this product for beginners, it would be too frustrating for them. ... show more

  • A good basic, heavy duty machine
This is a great machine for beginners or experienced sewers who are looking for a quality machine without all those computers and thingamabobs that invariably break down. It’s a touch cookie. Common as heck so you can find attachments everywhere for it. You can even find the whole users manual online in case yours doesn’t come with one like mine which is the only reason this review got 4 stars instead of 5. I really like this machine. It’s very heavy duty and has taken everything I’ve thrown at it so far. I’ve only had it a few months so I’m not sure about longevity as yet but it seems like this one is built for the long haul with routine care and handling. ... show more

  • My machine
I like my new machine, BUT I noticed that the dial to center the needle is off. I have to turn the dial all the way to the left to be centered and also the bobbin tendon is also off. I have it pasted #6 for the stitching to be a good stitch. Top stitch is fine. What I am sewing is face mask. Also make baby blankets and baby bibs. I don’t know what to do because I need a machine that doesn’t have problems . Before this new singer I had a Curvy. This machine no longer works due having it serviced the motor stop working. ... show more

  • Simple to use for one familiar with Singer machines
I killed my prior 1980's vintage Singer 7110 (gears failed) making community masks, and needed a replacement. This new one rocks! Very sturdy and easy going, with some improvements over the prior model, including a needle threader, and an easier toggle for reverse stitching. Anyone with prior Singer experience will have no problem with this baby. With one exception: I thought at first there was a problem because after I played around with all the different stitches, the needle position dial did not seem to move the needle to left, center, right. I found out that that the needle position dial only moves the needle position if you've set the stitch width to 0 (straight stitching). ... show more

  • Great Heavy Duty Sewing Machine, but it's not white as it appears in advertising.
I'd been eyeing the Singer Sewing 4432 Heavy Duty Extra-High Speed Sewing Machine with Metal Frame and Stainless Steel Bedplate for quite some time as an upgrade from the SINGER 2277 Tradition Sewing Machine with Automatic Needle Threader that I purchased as my first sewing machine. Top load bobbin so I can easily see how much thread I have left and solid metal frame where exactly what I wanted, however, I wasn't thrilled with the grey industrial looking case. When I discovered the Singer Classic 23-Stitch Heavy-Duty Mechanical Sewing Machine I though I'd found the solution. Don't get me wrong, I love this machine and it does look better than the 4432 (which is the exact same machine with a different case color and markings), but it is NOT white as you can see from the attached photo. It is a lighter shade of grey than the 4432 or 4411, but definitely not white. Regardless, it works exactly as expected, same Singer quality, and little to no learning curve stepping up from the 2277. ... show more
