It sews so great!! right through multiple layers and even a couple of denim. I have always been a Singer girl since my first one in 1995, the 150th anniversary edition, and I still have it. I am a grandmother now and I remember my own mother sewing or repairing some family clothes (we were 3 children's) with a sewing machine that at the time was considered "the best" so, mother was very proud of the ultra-upscale technology she could get. Of course, it was Singer manual, not electric. Remembering that, it was the brand I've chosen at the moment of order a sewing machine for myself. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! It was really a beauty: well proportioned, solid pink color, not too heavy, with some accesories... just to fall in love with it. BUT did not work, like a nightmare: whatever I've tried, it failed. Starting with the thread, so confusingly explained in the miserable piece of drawing coming with the machine, that never I could do it properly. And it was the ONLY instruction Singer could provide to a buyer. Is it that everybody was born knowing everything? Well, not really; perhaps the company is saving in the costs of a not cheap product...SO, I decided to look online on Singer.com or so for more explanation. Do you imagine what I discovered? Apart the price I paid for the unmanageable sewing machine, I had to buy a simple booklet of instructions. Very simple, if you want to know how to manage the product just bought, pay more. If not (and you weren't born knowing everything) put the machine in the trash bin and buy another brand (thanks Amazon for your policy of easy returns). Anyhow (sorry for the length) that is not all. The bobine is also a problem: it goes by itself like no tension exist, and you got the inside of the seem with a big ball of thread; but if you put some extra tension, it is so heavy that the thread goes broken. And also, when you thread the needle using a manual device, the thread goes from back to front and breakdown no matter how many times you tried with different sises of thread. And, please, believe me: I guess this is enough for anybody to desist from buying this brand, but if you need something else, I can tell you about problems I had with the tension, the bobbins the tidiness of the sewing from both sides, and something else. In sum, I won't recommend to anybody! On the contrary, I say Shame on the brand! ... show more

The reviews are fairly accurate. I think it is made better than most of the current machines out there for its price point. It is loud but define loud? It’s a machine. I advise though to make sure that all your parts are oiled that are supposed to be oiled. And and your threaded properly. I feel these points were checked. It ran very smoothly and efficiently. I’m sewing dog tack and blankets for dogs. It went through it like butter. I have not used lighter fabrics on it that I’m told it is very versatile in this way. Just make sure you change out your needle for the appropriate fabric. It was very easy to use and I’m using it in my art design studio and I love the fact that it’s prismatic color casing very cheerful makes me laugh every time I see it. It’s a joy. Since my motif is a rainbow with a unicorn my brand the rainbow is very symbolic. A great machine for beginners or people getting back into sewing without too many complications. I for one didn’t want a lot of computer issues with a sewing machine why I chose a more mechanical metal parts frame. Though there are some silicone belts in it and they may need replacing overtime. I think for hobby years it’s an amazing machine. For commercial use I’m still shopping.. Definitely a delightful fill-in. Or if you wanna just have a portable machine to take to a sewing party. It has a lovely handle. You can move it from room to room or to your next event. Some people quilt cases to put over them with the handle sticking out some people put them in a hard shell case it’s entirely your choice. But so far we’re having fun with this little guy. Great power, works well with multiple layers of fabric. I had a problem getting the operation manual in English. Ended up on Etsy to get the one in English. Good for beginners and experienced sewers. Very easy to thread. The bobbin winder is wonderful and easy to operate. The machine is a regular size, but is so convenient to operate. Does not have too many knobs and buttons to confuse or intimidate you. Will need to get a case to cover it when not in use, but they're not expensive. ... show more
