It’s not real leather. Looks nice. I changed the legs to make it look less modern because that’s not my vibe and the wood was good and didn’t crack or give us any trouble for that. I’m praying it holds up with my kids. Good storage and overall I’m happy with it.

I absolutely love this! It took me 15 minutes to set up as the whole thing is built and you only need to add legs. I got the 36 inch and it’s the perfect size for our big couch! Love how much space there is to store, perfect for kids toys and whatever else you may need quickly to grab and easily hide away. Would highly recommend. ... show more

This came with dented and scratched legs without assembly instructions or washers displayed in the online instruction manual. The hinges are fully assembled without any direction as to how to remedy misalignment of opening closing the ottoman storage lid / top. A prior reviewer addressed the design flaw with a broken wooden frame where the hinges fasten to the ottoman. In the last picture, you can see the 1-2 inch high shift of the wood from the rest of the ottoman when in the closed position. Simpli-home customer service also asks for an encyclopedia amount of information to remedy a defective product—not helpful. ... show more

Overall, I’m pretty happy with this purchase. We ordered the 36” square in Distressed Black. It has great storage (see photos). We live in a small 750 sqft house, so every inch of storage counts. The ottoman is so far very sturdy. My 200lb husband plopped himself down on it the other day and I cringed, because I fully expected the legs to bust like some of the reviews. And although all is well, I reminded him not to use it as a seat if he can help it. The material has a brushed texture to it, and it attracts hair very easily. So if you have pets like we do, just be prepared to be vacuuming the hair off frequently. I already knew this going into it based on other reviews. But I typically keep a tidy home, so taking 30 seconds to vacuum the ottoman while I’m vacuuming the rest of the house daily isn’t a big deal to me. Before installing the legs, I noticed one of them had a small, hairline crack. The crack certainly did not go all the way through the leg, and it almost looked like just a crack in the finish. Not sure. Now that the legs are installed, I can’t even find the leg in question to show a photo of it, so it’s clearly not that obvious of a flaw. There’s a small chip out of the wood frame on mine (see photos). I have a wood furniture repair kit that will easily cover that up, though. But worth noting. My biggest complaint was the delivery/tracking. Amazon tracking said it was out for delivery on a Monday, but it never came. The next day, same thing. Never came. For 5 days, Amazon’s tracking said it would be delivered that day. Finally, I referenced the tracking number directly on UPS’s website. It said delivery was “expected” Thursday. It never came. Finally, on Friday, it was delivered even though the UPS tracking was acting like it had actually lost the package. It was a mess. Neither UPS nor Amazon had any real answers.
