I've bought this twice now, over at least a year between the purchases, and for two different locations. The first purchase was for a large living room to provide additional air flow / circulation to help with heating & cooling distribution. I was thankful for having two units, because one unit didn't seem to provide enough circulation by itself. The last purchase (recent) was for providing additional circulation in a mid-sized bedroom, which was WAY overkill. Just one fan, set on the lowest setting, had all my vertical blinds blowing all over the place. In the small area the sound of just the blowing wind was like having a permanent white noise cancelling device in the room, definitely too much for smaller rooms. Not knocking the units, they are well built, definitely heavy duty, and provide quiet high velocity air circulation (provided they aren't placed in too small a space). Light weight to move about, but stable when placed on a floor or table, and acceptable cord length. Speed settings provide good selection of air flow, but as I have found, never going above the lowest speed, either the air flow is too much, or the noise of the air through the fan is too loud. Controls are simple, a dial that can select either off, I, II, or III on the back of the fan, also where they give you a carry handle, along with two hooks to wrap the power cable around during storage or transport. Construction is robust, metal tube frame, metal fan grille, aluminum fan blades, and four shock absorbing silicon feet to provide metal on surface noise isolation. All black, except for the silver fan blades, and sizable, easily noticeable in any room, it does provide additional air circulation. AND ... you get two of them.

This fan is a great value. For roughly 20% less than the cost of 2 box fans, this moves over twice the air volume. The average 20" box fan moves around 2000-2300 CFM on high, while this moves 2900 on low. For noise, it's about as loud as a box fan on low and it does get fairly loud on high. This is due to the volume of air that is moving in the surface area of the fan body (like driving down the street with the windows down). It is a ball bearing fan, so it will make less motor noise if it's ran vertically. The fan motor is overall quiet when everything is taken into consideration. Build quality is very nice. All metal body and fan blades. Clips for the guard instead of screws, so it's easy to take off and clean. It's fairly heavy, so it won't jump around if you have it on the floor. A big thing this has is ball bearings for the fan motor instead of a sleeve. This means it'll last for a very long time even if you have it on all the time. I have some ball bearing fans in a server that have been running for almost 2 decades at this point. I use this in a window and it's great as an exhaust or inlet fan to air a room out. Fits fine a double hung window if it can fit a box fan (without the stand obviously). Just pay attention to weather as it's not water safe. The only knock I have against it is the power cord. It's 6ft long, but it's measured from the control box, so it's really functionally 5ft long. It is beefy though, so it's unlikely the cable will be a point of failure. Overall I'd say it's great for the price. I'll probably get another in the future.

I bought this fan because my upstairs doesn't get cool enough in the summer. I put this at the base of my stairs to force cooler air upstairs. Will it make a difference? I'm not sure yet as it is already the evening and I'm turning it on for the first time. The fan is very strong. I put it on its high setting and I can feel the air at the top of the stairs. (I live in a basic 2 level/floor apartment). It seems sturdy enough and I love that I can angle it. I do feel like it is a bit on the loud side. It makes a loud humming noise on the high setting. All other settings I feel like the noise isn't too bad. The cord is also on the short side and I didnt have an outlet plug close enough to my stairs so I had to buy an extension cord. All in all, I'm fairly happy with my purchase so far. Update: using this fan to force cooler air upstairs makes a difference. Our bedrooms are close to the top of the stairs though so that's probably why it helps. It's definitely made summers more bearable.

I bought the 20" fan. This thing reminds me of fans from the 70's. The blades are all metal construction, as is the whole fan. Very nice fan cage with small slits. You can't get an ink pen between the wire slits so no worries about your kid growing up missing fingers. It is possible to disassemble the cage to clean the blades. And this baby really outputs the air too. Even on low. Because it really moves the air, it's also a bit loud. Sounds like a 1930 Stinson doing a low pass overhead. :-) But you cannot move that amount of air quietly with standard blades either. Seems to be a very good quality motor, smooth and powerful. The instructions even suggest the motor be oiled every few months. How many fan motors these days can be oiled? So if you do so, it should last many a year. Three speeds. Heavy duty, quality three prong grounding cord. A 5 star fan in my book.

This fan is a yes. It replaces another 23 month lasting Amazon fan that looks the same...but this one is better. Quieter, more air per setting. This one has ball bearings that may make it quieter and they say to expect 5 years life. We have no airconditioner but this is great. 20 inch metal fans are not quiet like smaller toy fans but this can be talked over on low and medium. I hooked it up to a cheap remote since it is on a high TV swivel shelf. Twice the air of a cheap box fan. Also it adjusts 360 degrees so you can aim it at any down angle, which is rare. Pleased as punch and if it lasts a test month I will get another for another room. BTW, you get a little plastic wrench to tighten the side swivels. Not to be mounted on the nut. Assembly easy, 3 minutes. Strong frame. No cons. Not even little cons.
