Once I was able to get a 4090 for MSRP (about a month or so after they were released) I grabbed one and purchased this power supply. SilverStone was one of the first on Amazon to have a platinum rated power supply with 12VHPWR in the 1KW range. Since building my system I've disassembled it several times for M.2 SSD upgrades and a case upgrade. Despite unplugging and re-plugging the 12VHPWR connector each time, I've never had the dreaded melting power connector issue to this day - and I play some pretty demanding games for several hours per day almost every single day, not to mention rendering video and other reasonably high-load activities on occasion. I've also experienced no noise from the power supply, even under the heaviest load I've been able to produce with my current hardware. When I did the case upgrade, I stupidly broke the locking latch off the connector when routing the cable and SilverStone sent me a new cable right away - no hassle at all. As I write this review, you can now get their 12VHPWR cable with a 90-degree connector right here on Amazon. Based on my experience with this power supply and the company's excellent support, SilverStone continues to impress me not only with their quality hardware, but also their customer focused thinking and service. I purchased this as an upgrade from my Corsair 1000W power supply as I had upgraded to an RTX 4080. It was much lighter than I was expecting, however, as it is a silverstone, it is providing the quality that I expected. It has given me no issues, and has been very quiet along with providing more than sufficient power for my 4080. Initially there was some delay in certification process, but now you can find the full ATX 3.0 report on Cybenetics website. This PSU power RTX 4090 + 7950X and Asus x670e Hero. Excellent power supply that is practically silent. The included cables are a bit stiff. They are standard quality (not mesh) except for the new 12vhpwr cable. I wish all the cables were mesh as it would make it nicer for panel glass cases.

Well packaged. Quiet in my installation even when under load with a MSI 4090 RTX Gaming X Trio and Intel i9-13900. Fully modular and includes necessary cables including a 600W GPU power cable for the 4090. Motherboard power cable has a mysteriously tight fit in the PSU and the mobo. Time will tell but so far so good. Hats off to Silverstone (and Channel Well Technology, the OEM) for a nice PSU at the latest spec. Update after 4 months: still going strong with no issues. Quiet. Bought this PSU to replace a Seasonic PSU that was having issues with my overclocked ryzen 5950x and sapphire nitro+ 7900xtx, it would power off randomly in a game due to wattage. I am pulling on avg 680w - 730w and this Silverstone 1200r platinum seems to be a good fit, the random shutdowns went away. Its small form factor, but seems to do the job. I like how it is platinum and I am just pulling in the range for the most efficiency, while most atx 3.0 PSU out now are gold. With the prices of electricity going up and the power requirement from computers, you want to do the best to save that money. It did pass the very strenuous Cybernetics power supply test, 12v rail is very strong. Only issue was power hold up time, ATX 3.0 supposed to be 17ms and it was 15ms. That shouldn't be an issue unless you in a place with power brown outs. I am usually a very high end PC parts purchaser, 5950x....7900xtx seasonic titanium. But I decided to give this power supply a shot and it did not disappointment. As people have mentioned the cabling is stiff and lazy for them to not have pure 8pin pcie cables, but decided to add an extra 8pin to each, so its just a bit more to hide, not bad. Sata cables are very long, so thats nice. Warranty only 5 years instead of high end PSU industry average of 10yr. I'd give this a 4.5 outa 5 star if I could, but went to 4 stars as that was the closet option as what I felt this unit from Silverstone deserves. ... show more
