So I got this for Prime Day. It's a nice little machine. It doesn't have a water inlet, so you have to pour water into the reservoir every now and then. But that's not necessarily a bad thing because it makes the machine more portable. Good for people who travel and don't trust or want to walk to hotel ice machines. Also, the ice storage area is not refrigerated or anything, so your ice cubes do melt, but they drip back into the reservoir and then they're recycled. The ice doesn't melt too fast though, so you'll always have ice on hand for as long as you have water in the tank. It's good for hosting small parties or if you have a small bar in your home or make smoothies/snow cones or just want some ice in your drink. I would not recommend this for commercial use. Home use is best and small office use is pushing it, but doable. I use ice more now than I did before I got this machine. ... show more

Setting: we have a fully functioning through-the-door ice dispenser on our refrigerator, that makes more ice than we can use. We also have an icemaker on another refrigerator that we don't currently use, but we could if we needed to (say, for a party). Thus we would be unlikely to need this. We bought one as a gift for my sister. We tried it before we gave it to her, and we almost DIDN'T give it to her... the basket of ice it made was so convenient, that we started drinking water more frequently than we ever had before. We considered that to be a healthy change, so after the gifting - leaving us without our new appliance - we immediately turned to Amazon for our own. The prices seem to fluctuate frequently on these icemakers, and the chosen color or finish can make a $30 or more difference! We found this stainless model at a good discount because it was an Amazon "renewed" item. It arrived looking like it was brand new, with the only indication of a short life before our purchase being some labels cut out of the packaging. The item itself was "mint" and even had the protective plastic wrap covering the stainless steel body (as seen in the photo). It works great, and quickly, making nice nuggets of ice that are just right for drinks (or chewing, but don't tell my dentist). I have only two small complaints with this model: 1) the newly-made ice tends to fill up one side of the basket, tripping the "ice full" sensor prematurely, and 2) the stainless steel body will not hold the suction cup hook provided to hold the scoop. Ironically, the suction cup held fast to the protective plastic, but when we removed that, it doesn't hold long to the actual steel. If the "ice full" light comes on prematurely, you can just sweep the ice down into the bucket and it will clear without needing to restart the machine. So... we LOVE this machine and now can't imagine not turning it on every morning. We keep it on the kitchen counter, where you can hear it, but not loudly. We turn it off at night when we've taken the last batch out for the evening. It's now a permanent fixture on our appliance-packed kitchen counter. Highly recommend! ... show more

I LOVE this ice maker. I live in a rental with just a basic fridge/freezer unit so no built in ice maker, and the small freezer is always packed with barely room to keep an ice bin, and def no room to freeze ice in trays. The way this works is that the ice bullets are formed on metal rods which are the only part of the unit that is chilled to freeze the water, therefore This ice maker does not have a freezer compartment that will keep the finished ice bullets frozen so you will heed to immediately transfer the ice to your freezer as soon as the collection bin is full. The first time I made enough ice to fill my ice bin in my freezer, I realized that the ice bullets tend to have a melted outer layer so that once in the ice bin, they will all freeze into a block of ice bullets that need to be broken apart. I solved this problem by putting the ice bullets into a ziplock bag which I keep in my freezer ice bin. This allows me to easily break up the ice bullets every time I need to retrieve ice from my stash, as well as keeps the ice fresh by not adsorbing odors and also keeps it from sublimating away while in frozen storage. A gallon sized bag was not big enough to maximize the available storage space in my ice bin so I got the 2.5 gal size and those generously line my bin and allow me to store my ice bin’s maximum capacity of ice. When I want ice I just pull the bag out of the bin, drop it onto the counter a few times to break them apart, just like you have to do with a purchased bag of ice. After getting the ice I need out, I just put the bag of ice back in the freezer ice bin, squish out the air and seal the bag & stick it back in the freezer. Easy and fast. The water reservoir of the ice maker holds 2 liters and it just so happens that that amount of water makes the exact amount of ice bullets to completely fill up my freezer ice bin to max capacity so I am very happy with it. A small freezer compartment to collect the ice in as it is made would have rated it 5 stars, but the simpler design without it still works well for my needs and is a much more affordable price than a unit with such a freezer collection space, so a solid 4 stars for a useful unit that will require some personal intervention to transfer the ice into freezer storage as it is made. I do wish that it had an audio alert for the full bin indicator in addition to the red indicator light, so that I could get the ice into the freezer immediately, but since the unit is small, portable and does not need to be hooked up to a water line, I just placed it where I can see it from my desk chair and set an alarm on my phone to start looking at the indicator lights after 50-55 minutes and that is working very well for me. ... show more

Very simple for operation. Makes lots of ice quickly. Decent shape, two sizes of ice. Smaller exterior than prior, it was a replacement for same brand. Downfall- use six months of the year. It will probably fail in about two years-hate tossing something into trash that quickly. Probably sixth replacement, needs not to be a throw-away item. ... show more
