This silicone baking mat is nice to the touch, relatively non-stick, and easily rolls or folds away after use. The purchase comes with a plastic dough cutter and a silicone brush for oil or egg washing your breads. It's food-grade silicone, which means that it's relatively safe for food handling and also capable of withstanding over 460 degrees Fahrenheit without melting. That said, I'd keep it below 400, and away from direct flame to avoid any accidents. The ridges around its edges are clutch, keeping everything relatively cleaner and spill-free. I can just fold it in half, take it to the sink and just wash excess flour away with water and a bit of soap without spilling so much as a single grain of flour. That said, I ended up deducting a point because: 1. The big and bold Chinese letters on the mat (which btw is something that wasn't pictured on the product page) may turn off a lot of potential buyers 2. Because I feel that it's quite overpriced compared to how it may be sold overseas in the country of origin. To close, it's certainly a thicker mat in the category of dough mix mats. That said, it's on the thin side relative to say, other silicone mats I have in the kitchen marketed as drying mats but I might be nitpicking here. At any rate, I feel that it's somewhat expensive at the time of writing. I understand shipping has gone up but it still feels high even with a couple of accessories that are included in the purchase. We’ve found silicone baking mats to be very helpful around the house, as they do a good job protecting a counter or table top, and they are very easy to clean. Most things will not stick to silicone mats including dough, epoxy, hot glue, most paints and so on, which makes them perfect for lots of projects. This mat has all the advantages of a silicone mat with a few nice additions, first, it has a small raised edge that is perfect for catching stray materials, second it is thinner and more flexible than the other baking mats we have. This makes it easy to roll-up and store, although it also allowed it to arrive with a few wrinkles from being folded. The wrinkles eventually work their way out. The mat came with a small silicone brush and scrapper, a handy addition. This mat doesn’t have the internal fiberglass mesh an oven mat has, making it more suitable for table top use and not for use in the oven. The mat does have a cheerful bear face in the center with concentric rings for sizing dough, it also has ruler marking on three of the edges. All the measurements are in metric and the text in Chinese. We ordered this mat primarily to be used for projects involving small children, who appreciate the happy bear and don’t mind the metric rulers. We are pleased with the mat, it has proven to be a good size, protects the table well and keeps things relatively contained. ... show more

    • Perfect for Protecting Counters!

I was tired of scraping dough off my kitchen counters when I baked, so I picked up this mat. It works perfectly! It's a bit thicker and of higher quality than I expected. There's a ridge around the edge of the mat so I didn't end up with flour all over the place. The size (20x28) was perfect for rolling out cookies with my extra-long wooden rolling pin and I had plenty of room to knead the bread. When placing the mat on the counter, I had to roll out a few air bubbles under the mat to ensure great contact on the counter - the mat didn't move even with some aggressive kneading. My brother-in-law saw it and instantly wanted one to roll out pizza dough. It also came with a dough scraper that felt a bit cheap and a silicone brush. I wasn't expecting them, so they were a nice bonus. There was a slight smell when I opened the package, but it disappeared when I washed the mat with just dish soap and water. As other reviewers have pointed out, the measurements on the mat are in centimeters and there are Asian characters rather than English words. Since I don't intend to measure anything on the mat in inches, this was not an issue for me. I mention the Asian characters as the photos in the posting seem to be trying to mask that they are there unless you zoom in. ... show more

This is an ok silicone mat for rolling dough, with raised edges, but it's not the best quality. Everything written on the mat is chinese or similar characters. The mat is on the thinner side (except the edges), the brush and scraper that come with the mat are very cheap quality; the scraper is super thin & the brush looks like the bristles will fall off & the head drop from the handle any second. ... show more

This is a good size silicone mat for rolling out pastry. It's thicker than some I own. I appreciate that it has a raised rim for keeping your surrounding surfaces more tidy. However, the measurements are metric and the labeling is in oriental script. Also the design is a very cutesy little bear. It's just too adolescent for my taste or style. I gave it to a young niece who is learning to bake. She is into Anime so she thinks the design is sweet. It's well-made and should last her a while. ... show more

My partner and I bake a lot of bread, but we always hate cleaning the counters after. There's flour everywhere! This mat really cuts down on clean-up time! It's a soft silicone, and has an anti-slip backing so it doesn't move around while you're rolling out dough. The design inside has handy measurements inside for sizing your dough. There's also a raised edge which prevents spilling and overflow onto the counter. We're able to easily kneed and roll out our dough on this mat.
