I've played with the best ways to sear foods every since I started cooking Sous Vide. I bought a cheap small torch, which is great for Creme Brule, etc., and then I bought a slightly bigger torch because the small one really wasn't practical for searing a steak or burger. But I put off spending more for a real flame thrower because I wasn't sure: 1. That it would be that effective, 2. that I could justify the cost of the $200 torch I see everywhere, 3. that the "overseas" manufactured cheapies would hold up, and well, you get the idea. This torch, while made in China, is from a USA owned small business and promised a 1 year unconditional guarantee. And the price was really reasonable for a decent product. So I took and chance and bought it. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. The torch seems to be well made, but most importantly, after using it several times on steaks and burgers, it just works really well. The flame lights easily and produced a beautiful blue flame that leaves absolutely no fuel taste on the food. (A problem I had when I tried my garden torch!) The large width and hot temp of the flame make it pragmatic to torch not just burgers and steaks, but a I've done a good sized chuck roast quickly and completely. The only caution I have is that it really is a large, very hot flame, so be careful if you use it indoors. It also is pretty loud, sounding a bit like you have a jet flying through your kitchen. (My dog ran and hid under the sofa the first time...). I also tested lighting charcoal with it (one of the many uses they suggest) and I'll never go back to lighter fluid. Very, very pleased with this product. And how can you not have fun with a flame thrower?

I've been using this Torch for the past year to light the lump charcoal for my Kamado Joe and to light the wood for my solo stove. I also have the $200+ Grill Blazer propane torch. While the Grill Blazer is built "like a tank" with mostly metal construction, save the handle, the Searpro at ~$50 has more plastic parts. This Searpro is every bit as functional as the much higher priced Grill Blazer, and I've used it a lot the past year. I will note the Grill Blazer has a longer reach but I've no issues with the reach of the Searpro. If you want a product that will last a generation get the Grill Blazer, if you want a solid product that is just as functional albeit of less overall quality build, go for the Searpro. I am very happy with the SearPro and I recommend it.

I saw this being used on Chud's BBQ YouTube channel. If you like to smoke / BBQ this thing will get your fire going quick. No more fire starters, kindling or wadded up paper. I just add my lump coal and splits to the firebox and turn this up to turbo and I've got a steady burning fire in minutes. Highly recommend.

I appreciate this products thoughtfulness in that it can stand by itself with a standard small propane tank. The box it comes in works well for storage. It is light in weight. The starter works reliably in the months that I’ve used it. I appreciate the safety feature in that it only lights using a small amount of fuel. I primarily use this product to sear steaks/meats, but I can see how this would be really useful to quickly light charcoal. It might be too powerful for applications for baking, and you should definitely NOT use this product indoors. Overall I recommend this product very highly.

Purchased this for my husband for his birthday. It took a little longer then expected, but it was well worth the wait. It is easy to use. Tried searing steaks on the BBQ after they were sous vide and came out great!

You get what you pay for. I bought a cheaper brand and the gas wouldn't shut off completely which is very dangerous. This one however works like a dream.
