  • Helps my Mom so much!
Color: Saddle Brown
I loved that it arrived so quickly and in great shape. My friend came over and had it put together in no time at all. Now, he had done one before for someone else so that helped. He did say this was really easy to put together. We have had it several months now and my Mom loves it. It helps her when she is having bad days and it is comfortable to sleep in. The lift works perfect. It took a little practice to figure out how it all worked only because we started using it and didn't read any directions. I got it when there was a sale so it was really a great price! ... show more

  • Ashley Electric Recliner
Color: Saddle Brown
There are items that are difficult to buy sight unseen, this was one and took a great deal of effort to pull the "Buy" button. Buying such items is even harder when comments won't address the very reason an item is considered, I'm frustrated and annoyed by the idiots who answer "Questions" with "Sorry, I don't know" -Why in the World would somebody stamp themselves as an idiot? Anyway, on to the practical review. This item was purchased because I'm PHYSICALLY disabled, I have ankylosing Spondylitis, a form of sever Arthritis -cartilage of the spine (mainly) turned to calcified bone, removing the natural "cushion" afforded by cartilage, causing sever pain and an inability to bend, there are other 2ndry eye issues and kidney stones become more prevalent due to the calcium imbalance. I'm also afflicted with regular arthritis. Overall the implications are sever enough that I'm unable to sleep in a bed, I'm a single Dad of three girls and they always came first, after two years I finally belted out the need to buy a decent recliner and spent months reviewing. Although I'm medically disabled now, I spent my working life predominately as a critical care nurse, only fairly recently has sufficient lift options have become available in the arena of Nursing Care, in my day I was pulled all over a facility to lift obese patients, typically in the 450 -600lb range (Often wondered if there had been an addiction tax, that would have covered health workers, like all the other "Special" tax's)-Took a toll. REVIEW: This Ashley recliner has provided rest, where no rest had been available before over two years. I had a feeling a good recliner "May" allow more than 2 hours sleep an any one time and indeed it happened. The main criteria was to have the footrest come up high enough to assist in lower extremity lymphedema, the score I gave this recliner was 8 out of 10, but my scoring relates specifically to a need and felt another two inch rise would have met out a 10/10. Measured against my existing couch I had to sleep in which was microfiber and a manual foot rest extension, the Ashley auto recliner was the same extended footrest height, but I had great difficulty getting the manual footrest back into the couch in order to get up. The Ashley footrest with the electric option provided function. The Ashley recliner was 2 inches higher than my couch, took a couple of days to adjust to the difference, extending the back of the Ashley recliner, from the wall was 14 inches from completely straight up to a full reclined position; the electric cable has more than enough room if required to have the recliner move further from the wall. The motor is very quiet, unobtrusive. The overall size on Amazon appears fairly large, in fact it's a very reasonable mid size, of course pictures make it difficult to tell. I always thought recliners could be better presented, most do not make an effort to show full range and a person for sizing. This recliner has made my life a lot easier, I believe if two changes were made, then this recliner would satisfy 100% of people who need a recliner for health issues. 1> Have the footrest elevate another two inches (rather than simply flat) and 2> The LUMBAR support is too low, needs to be at least 4 inches higher, provided the user moves the recliner into one or two specific positions, it's not terrible, but that should not even factor in to a basic design flaw. What would be nice to see... Produce a microfiber option. The couch I bought was treated and has lasted well from 2006, I see no reason why the additional comfort afforded by treated microfiber could not be part of this recliners update. Photo's to indicate package size and full extension, including the "General" comfort non sleeping level. I would also give additional KUDO's to AFB delivery, very impressed and rates a 10/10. EDIT 09/24/2018 - There is one very significant flaw, just discovered, when the electric power goes out, there is no battery back up to adjust the chair, I was stranded in it for 3 hours. I would suggest a cheap power bavkup battery (as there is none in the chair) to provide enoigh time to get to a sitting position. March 3td - Due to disability, I have used this chair as a bed, since buying. Nothing significant I would change, other than affirming a small power backup and affirming that microfiber would have been a much superior experience. The chair now shows why the fake leather is not great, worn and dark areas are a wee bit annoying. Still very functional. ... show more

  • I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop
Color: Saddle Brown
Too good to be true. No free lunch. You betcha. I'm 6', 300 pounds. Don't judge. This showed up today as Amazon swore it would. My wife is tiny so I'm thinking UPS or whoever was kind enough to schlep the one 3'x3'x3' box onto the porch for her. Thanks anonymous person wearing shorts in October. Box had a couple of travel scars. It was definitely cardboard punching above its weight but no damage to the chair. Prominently displayed on the top of the box was a no box cutter logo. Methinks the manufacturer has little to no faith in the consumer's ability to operate machinery in the presence of the chair. I was not deterred. A little surgical tape slitting and voila, she is exposed. Grandson, invert this box and slide the box off the contents. Good, now put aside the loosely shipped back and side bolsters. Good, now you take front, I'll take back and let us away up the stairs. Manageable for two even up a flight. Assembly, maybe two minutes without cracking the directions. The aforementioned back and bolsters slip fit, no tools. Then locate the plug on the chair bottom for the transformer brick where goest the batteries. Bummer, 2 9v batteries not provided but required for the wonderful battery back up function. I'm resigned to trusting Eversource for now. Still, I should have seen that coming. One more trick attaching the remote to it's cord hidden in the "magazine pocket". Do this bit out in the open. It's fiddly. So four button remote. Leg rest up and leg rest down Back recline and back return. Hold leg rest down after it is fully down and the chair does its up for easy exit trick. No brain in this chair. The buttons engage the servos to move and when you release everything stops. Easy peasy. What could be better? Well, leg rest and back moving in unison for one. But no. Memory buttons to put chair at predetermined posture. No. I guess that's what you get when you buy a sub 1000 dollar motion chair. C'mon, quit the BS. Is it comfortable? Yeppir. Firm on the bottom and back as well as the leg rest, cushier on the armrests. Two pet peeves with recliners, they don't, recline that is. This one, she do. From 12 o'clock to 2:45. The other is that when reclining the armrests are often too low to be useful as armrests. Win! It put me on my feet without any more motor noise than when it's reclining so I'm thinking the 300 pound limit is conservative, at least electro-mechanically. Time will tell about the cushions ability to withstand my awesome girth. Brand new and still got that new car smell. Let's see how it looks after a couple of miles. I'll let you know. Update the first: December is nigh. What, like a month and a half of my relationship with this chair? Still happy with it. It seems unphased by having to deal with me daily, something my own legs are somewhat tenuous about doing. The lift me out of the chair thing is reserved for the days when I punish myself to the point that gravity puts me in the chair and gravity insists that I stay in the chair. Mostly I just get out of it like a bipedal anthropoid. I put a 2x4 under the front legs because it felt too perpendicular to the floor. Perpendicularity is not a design flaw in a chair. It isn't in keeping with the recliner gestalt though. Pitching it back invites that much more reclining, and after all, isn't that the point? If sufficient reclining is adequate then logically too much reclining is better. I got batteries and that function works although I only bumped the switch to verify. I doubt that there's much more than a trip or two in two 9v batteries so waste not want not. It could be bigger. I've had bigger. That said, it's a fine addition to the menagerie of gizmos that I have acquired to fight that perpetual war for freedom to procrastinate. ... show more
