  • Best Guitar I've Owned In Years
Size: 39.9"
After reading many written reviews and watching several video reviews of this guitar, I was very impressed with the look and the tone of this guitar, not to mention the price under $200. I was concerned about poor packing and shipping and potential damage but I decided to buy one and see if it was everything people said. I've owned many many fine Martin, Taylor and Yamaha guitars over the years and I know quality, build and tone when it comes to acoustic guitars. I was prepared for substandard workmanship, poor setup and playability out of the box. I will say however, that the guitar is built in Indonesia and I've had good luck in the past with guitars from that country. Wow. This guitar arrived in perfect shape, and with a really nice low action. It only took me a very slight adjustment of the truss rod to once I put a capo on the upper frets. The D'Addario strings are not my favorite so I switched those out with Elixir Nanoweb light phosphor bronze. I can't believe how great this guitar sounds and it is nearly as good as my old Martin 000-18. Maybe it doesn't have the complex harmonics of the Martin but it's darn close and good enough for me. The neck profile is slim and comfortable, and not a baseball bat like some guitars in this price range. The back of the neck is satin which makes for a very smooth playing experience (and not sticky like a gloss finish might be). Be forewarned that the guitar no longer comes with Grover tuners but the tuners on this guitar are good quality and hold the tune of my new strings once the strings have had a chance to stretch and settle. I changed out the bridge pins to ebony with a shell inlay (thanks to a recommendation here in the Amazon comments). I don't think it does much to improve already excellent tone - I just think it's pretty. The Amazon seller Walter's Music has been outstanding and very communicative in answering all of my questions about the guitar. My only complaint is that the manufacturer (St. Louis Music) hasn't been as responsive to my question about why the guitar does not come with a warranty. A minor thing, perhaps but it sends the message (to me anyway) that the company doesn't stand behind its product. I bought a case for it (again, thank you Amazon reviewers), the Gator GWE-000AC Hard Shell Wood Case for Martin guitars and it is a perfect fit. Overall, I'm thrilled with this guitar and it will be getting a lot of playing time. ... show more

  • Most bang for the buck in an affordable guitar, great second guitar for more experienced players.
Size: 41”
The media could not be loaded. This is the most guitar you can buy for this price. Solid mahogany top, compensated saddle, plays in tune, stays in tune and it looks and sounds great! I was looking for an affordable guitar I could recommend to my guitar class students. I was shocked by how good it looked when I took it out of the box. Sounds better than anything I've seen at this price point and I owned a retail music store for 16 years. The 30D is a great value and a ball to play. It's also a great second guitar for a more advanced player. I've started using it myself in my classes. I love it! Now I'm thinking about checking out one of their travel guitars. ... show more

  • Sigma 000 guitar
Size: 39.9"
Arrived good condition, packaged well, not tuned. Tuned well...to my ears the first pass was thin sounding but good sustain. Changed to Martin Medium silked strings and it was magic. Great buy on this guitar for the price point. I needed a 000 for a bit more volume and this fit the bill perfectly without having to amp. It needed a little dressing of the fret ends were sharp but not a real issue. Also, the back of the neck needed a smooth brillo pad sanding to take a little roughness off in a small spot but again, minor. When all done , it has an equal amount of tone & sustain to my performance guitars @ 5 x the price of this one. If this one gets smashed or stolen...I would immediately replace it with a new one. Up Date : I have played this guitar now long enough to say it rates in playability and tone to my guitars costing 30x as much. My application is primarily playing assisted living /rest homes where softer tone is best....when I travel this is the guitar I use. If it gets broken or other wise damaged, I will just buy a new one. It plays best with Medium strings in my experience. I use silked medium strings. Best buy on the net that that I have found for the price point. If its an entry level Martin ...it sounds exactly like my 000 Eric Clapton. ... show more

  • Shipping Broke It
Size: 39.9"
Good reviews, good price, what could go wrong? I found out. The first one that I bought, came dented. Too bad, it sounded good except for the buzzing on the top E string. Even with the dent, I would have sent it back because I don't know how to fix it. The truss rod was loose and tightening, would only make the buzz worse. I ordered a replacement (#2) and, shock of all shocks, it had a dent in exactly the same place, and exactly the same depth. There was no buzz on this one and the tone quality was good. Still, it is a good deal, and a good replacement for my FG 140 Yamaha, that has a narrow nut for my big hands. So, in never-say-die character, I ordered a third one. #3 is due for delivery today, so I will amend this post, hopefully, with an unblemished guitar. Epilog: #3 arrived unblemished and factory fresh. NO DENTS! No buzz. I might want to change strings because they seem a bit stiff, but that's no drawback, It is more playable than my Yamaha FG-140 and not quite as raucous as my 12 string. All-in-all, I'm very pleased. ... show more

  • The set up is perfect.
Size: 39.9"
This guitar is excellent for the price. I've pictured it with my Martin OOO-18. Of course the Martin has the edge in tone, but the Sigma came set up perfectly for me so the playability is on par with the Martin. The tuning pegs are smooth and it stays in tune. I'm beginning to learn how to instal pick ups in acoustic guitars so this will get an LR Baggs Lyric. ... show more
