  • A great entry-level wireless unit
Style: H9: 512-542 MHz
I've owned the BLX14 (band J10) for about 5 years now, and it has been terrific. I bought it when I lived in Kansas City MO, and I never had issues with it. Great range, even though walls/ceilings. Very dependable signal and I never had issues with interference or drouputs. A few years later I moved to the Denver area, and I really still didn't know much about wireless bands/groups/channels (the BLX14 was so easy to use, it was set-and-forget...so I never had to learn much about the voodoo behind the scenes). I started having issues with dropouts. The signal would just drop intermittently, and I thought that the unit was failing. Fortunately I've since learned about wireless bands and how they slot into your local broadcast TV station frequencies. It turns out that my area has no free channels on the J10 band, and that's why I was experiencing dropouts. So I decided to get a new wireless system, this time paying attention to the Shure Frequency Finder web page, which is extremely helpful. The H9 band has plenty of free channels in my area, so I bought a new BLX unit, this time going for the BLX88 so I could have a 2nd wireless lav when I have a guest on my YT channel. So far, the BLX88 has been just as great, just as simple and worry-free as the BLX44 was. My one complaint is that the included CVL lavs are pretty much hot garbage. But if you buy just the base unit, then buy two body pack transmitters, it actually costs MORE than buying this package that includes the CVL lavs. So just take them out of the box, put them in a drawer, and only use them if one of your other (almost certainly better) lavs fails and you need an emergency backup. Since they're basically freebies, I'm not knocking off a star for how undeniably awful the CVL mics are. ... show more

  • Works like a charm!
Style: H9: 512-542 MHz
I'm a wedding DJ & bought this set for wedding ceremonies. I was concerned how well this mike set would work with my JBL Eon One Pro speakers. I was not disappointed! They were louder than expected. Made minor adjustments on the gain of the transmitters and now they are perfect. And being a Shure product, I'm able to set up farther away from the bride and groom and not worry about the sound breaking up. Well worth the money for the piece of mind and a perfect ceremony. ... show more

  • Shure brand not shure quality
Style: H9: 512-542 MHz
I have always loved Shure brand mics, they have been quality and reliable. These I have owned just a few months and they have failed with no reason or explanation at the most in opportune times. I can't trust these to work in crunch times. Sad to have to say this but these leave me wanting something better. ... show more

  • Worth buying the name brand
Style: H9: 512-542 MHz
After purchasing and using a couple off-brand versions, it is well worth the money to get Shure. Used by two preachers in a small church building.
