These are legitimately the best knives I’ve ever used! They are wicked sharp, and super comfortable to use. This is my first serious set of knives, and I’m telling you it is worth every. Last. dollar. The chef’s knife gets more use than any of the other ones. The only reason I took away a star is because of the knife roll. The sharp, sharp knives cut the fabric with relative ease, and the tips dug into the roll within the first month of daily use. I’ve stabbed myself on the carving knife twice while it was rolled up on my side. Absolutely would recommend these knives as well as the whole set, but I would recommend you put your money towards a better knife roll. ... show more

Soooo...LOVED these knives for the first 3 years...BUT they started to develop rust marks and then where the rust showed NOW they have completely chipped to the point of being unusable. Hand washed them. Hand dried Tham. Bought knife guards for carrying. I took GREAT care of them and they still chipped. Super sharp until they weren't. DO NOT SPEND THE MONEY FOR KNICES THAT WILL FAIL IN 3 YEARS. I have a $50 set of knives that have chopped less than these. Just see my pics for confirmation. NOT WORTH THE HIGH PRICE. ... show more

    • Great knives, but beware!
Out of the box, I recieved the carrying bag and the knives with cardboard sleeves over the blades. In the set came a honing steel with an angle guide on by the handle, the 9" slicing knife, the 9" bread knife, the 8" chef's knife, the 6" boning/filet knife, the 6" utility knife, and the 3.5" paring knife. The factory edge on all of the blades are razor sharp and they come with free lifetime sharpening. The knives are made of VG MAX steel clad in damascus steel so that they can have an extraordinarily hard steel without the blade being so brittle as to snap in half. The knives preform phenominally as any Shun knives would be expected to, but to any home kitchen users or people who have not done research be careful as the VG MAX steel is so hard that if the knife is not treated with care, it will chip and crack. Also be sure dry the blade after washing as the steel is reactive and will rust. ... show more

    • An Excellent Knife Set for Those New to Cooking
This is an excellent knife set for those new to "real" cooking. Newly divorced, I signed up for the Hello Fresh boxes, which require quite a bit of preparation for each meal, and my existing knives were not cutting it (literally). I had been told by a professional chef that I would really only need two knives - a chef's knife and a pairing knife - and while this is true about 90% of the time, it is nice to have the other knives handy when I need them. It is SO NICE to have a sharp, quality knife to work with. I literally did not know what I was missing until I got this knife set.
