Description

Designed with Texas and Gulf Coast wading anglers in mind, the all-new Tranx 150 expands the Tranx family of low-profile reels with a versatile offering perfect for lighter inshore presentations. A saltwater workhorse, the Tranx 150 employs a HAGANE Body for added durability while enhancing the overall smoothness by housing the internal components within a metal body that resists flexing during tough battles. The smallest offering in the Tranx lineup, the Tranx 150 delivers the palmability of its freshwater counterparts but offers anglers enhanced durability in saltwater environments with CoreProtect technology. A protective coating applied to critical areas, CoreProtect ensures water beads up and rolls off the reel to reduce water intrusion for added durability when chasing inshore game fish. With an inherent desire to be a glutton for punishment, the Tranx 150 boasts enhanced stopping power by utilizing Shimano's Cross Carbon Drag material to deliver smooth and dependable drag performance across the drag range. Design and technology combine to create the ideal low-profile reel for inshore applications. Demand more with Tranx 150.

Great quality reel.

Bought as a gift for our son and he reports that the reel operated as smooth as silk.

Butter! This reel is a little heavier than my Lews lite but it is solid. We were casting in 25-30 gusts and I never backlashed once. I was using it in high salinity saltwater and only added a little oil maintenance after I was done two days later.

Love this reel. Updated after 8 months of use.

Original 5 star review:I use it on a medium weight (30#) rod fishing mostly for bay bass and halibut in the San Diego bay. It took some trial and error to get it set up. But once I did I get flawless long casts 99% of the time. It was either this or the Curado DC. But, my local tackle shop recommended against the Curado in salt water. I’m glad I got this one, and shortly I’ll be getting a larger one for going after dorado & tuna. Downgrounded to 2 stars…Update after 8 months of use. This is my go to real, on a Phenix 30# rod , for fishing San Diego Bay. I use a 15# flouro leader, so I’m not stressing the reel much. I fish it about 6 hours per week…every week. so, roughly that’s 180 hours of use, and it reeled in about 600 bass and other similar sized bay fish. A few outings ago, the reel started to lock up mid cast. I figured I was doing something wrong…then on the last outing, when the spool was spinning it sounded like it was grinding coffee. I took it to my local tackle shop, and they agree it sounded like the spool bearing is shot. So, it’ll be about 4 weeks out of use. I didn’t expect this from Shimano, and I’m disappointed. ... show more
