  • Good for the price, but not quite as good as the previous version from the same company
I bought this same brand and size canopy to replace my 4-year old one that Hurricane Michael did a number on -- which I can't fault the product for. I knew it would never survive but simply wasn't able to take it down with so much else to prepare for. With this semi-permanent design it is not really all that easy to take it down once it is is up -- but most of the time that's actually a good thing. That makes it much better overall than the more flimsy units out there in the same price range. Compared to my 4-year old model, this new one has some quality control issues: Unlike the old one there was a lot of variation when fitting all the pipes together: Some fit too loose and so did not create as steady and solid frame as the old one... others didn't want to go together without some heavy tapping (do it too hard and you will split the pipe at the point where it is trying to go into the next one). A major improvement would be a simple built-in locking device/button at every pipe juncture. It would cost more, of course, but it would be worth it. The heavy-duty waterproof white plastic canopy seemed to be of the same durable quality as my old one, but it did not "fit like a glove" onto the frame like my previous one did. It took a lot of tugging to get it on and in the end it was not quite as snug and taught on the frame as the old one. Seems like it wasn't cut and seamed quite as square-to-the-frame as it should be. Despite the above, this product is good value for the money. Note that you cannot trust the thin tie-down "ropes" that are supplied on any of these kind of things. You have get to better ties and real stakes to drive into the ground to hold the thing down in anything but a light breeze. After all, a big open canopy like this on its comparatively light-weight steel frame is like a para sail ready to take flight. I use heavy duty bungee cords, which hold it down but will also stretch a little with the push of the wind, letting the whole assembly "give" and flex little, putting less stress on the frame. ... show more

  • Great for outdoor parties.
I bought the shelterLogic kit canopy, the enclosure kit, and bungee balls (incase I needed extra's) for my 4th of July party I was having in my yard. I found that it was a very good investment, and a good buy. It was ordered in the middle of June and took less than a week for it to arrive. It was packaged well and everything was marked properly. It took me, my husband, and my son to put it together. And we found it very easy to install. The only thing lacking in this deal was not enough anchoring stakes. There are only 4 small metal stakes to anchor the canopy. But there are 6 poles and one of the middle poles kept falling down. So we bought some better anchoring gear at Tractor Supply and had no more problems. It was up for 2 weeks and during some pretty bad rain storms. But stayed put and never leaked any rain. This canopy kit can be used for so many different things that my husband and I consider it a very good investment. After reading some of the other reviews I was skeptical about purchasing it. And I agree with some of the reviews that says that this is not meant to be a permanent structure. It's not!!! But for any kind of outside party, yardsale, or etc.. it's a great item to have. We have also found that the best storage unit for it is a plastic lock lid storage container from walmart is best. Folded neatly and all the poles and bases washed and put in it fits perfectly. A few ziploc bags for the ropes and stakes and one for the bungee balls. And it can all be stored together neatly. We are very happy with our purchase. ... show more

  • Decent car port
I'm using this as a carport. It was easy to put together but requires a 2nd person to get the canopy over the frame. The directions were very clear and the parts were numbered so it was easy to be sure you were using the right poles for the roof and legs. They recommend a rubber mallet to make sure the poles are firmly connected. So I bought one and it really made a difference in the rigidity of the frame. Once assembled, it's not the most sturdy thing, but for $100 you get what you pay for. It's at least as good as the tents I saw at Walmart. A couple of things that you may want to do: 1) The leg support string is one long piece. I ran out so had to go buy some rope for the last support. 2) The smooth metal ground stakes that the string is tied to are useless! Had to buy some serrated plastic tent stakes to adequately secure the tie downs. 3) Also had to buy some long metal tent stakes that go through the holes in the leg footers to give it better resistance to the wind. It keeps the tree sap & pine cones off the car, which is what I was after. ... show more

  • Good value
Put up our canopy the weekend before Tropical Storm Hermine. It took us longer than the directions estimate, mostly because the instructions regarding the tie ropes for the top are very vague in the beginning, and unfortunately I don't work for the psychic friends network. We ultimately decided to skip that step and continue on with what we understood and finally figured out that the previous instructions re: the ties were for temporary purposes only. So you may wanna just breeze over that part. We managed to get it staked down just before the rains hit. We ended up being on the southeast side of the storm with just gusty winds (40 mph range) and about 6 inches of rain...but the Shelter Logic held up against Hermine well. ... show more

  • Exactly as advertised and what you should expect for the price
Used it to cover our deck through the summer and now fall...people felt better being socially distanced and outside, so this was effectively an additional 'room' on the house......went together easily (need two people for a couple of key maneuvers) and works without issue. I have friends who used the exact same product for the past 6 years, replacing the material canopy roughly every two to three seasons (they leave it out year round, which is not recommended by the manufacturer). Excellent product for the price. ... show more
