  • Might be adequate for sun/rain, but not for snow/ice
I bought this canopy about 6 months ago. Setup and installation was easy enough for 1-person. The 18 x 20 foot canopy proved to be tall and wide enough to squeeze two Ford Super Duty trucks under it. As a summer sun shade, I love it. Then, as Fall set in here in North Carolina, the canopy did a great job of keeping rain, sometimes heavy rain, off of the equipment we kept under it. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago we encountered a severe winter storm that dumped about 7 inches of show in a short period of time, followed by about 2 inches of ice. Interestingly enough, the plastic canopy cover did just fine holding the heavy snow/ice load, but the steel tubing failed under the weigh, and the entire canopy collapsed, causing quite a bit of damage to a car and lawn tractor beneath. For those that might be interested, or into such things, the tubing failed (bent, split, buckled) mostly in the larger, mandrel bent tubing in the upper joists and corners. From what I could tell, the welds didn't fail, but the tubing seems to have been weakened where the bends were made. So, if you are considering this product and live in an area (e.g. East Coast) that gets wet, heavy snow, freezing rain, or ice storms ... you might want to spend a few more dollars and get something a bit more robust. Otherwise (sun, wind, rain only), it seems to be a decent enough product to warrant serious consideration. ... show more

  • Recommended definitely
Very easy to put together. Took my husband and I less than an hour. A few dents in a couple of the polls. Could be more sturdy on the top poles. Other than that highly recommended

  • Great shade cover, Not designed to shed rain water and no warranty against rain damage.
Let me start off by saying that I think this is a good product, but with some major limitations you don't find out about until it is too late. I set this up over my vehicles to protect them from the elements. It clearly states that it is not built for snow loads and so I took that into account and remove the cover in the worst part of the winter to prevent damage. What they don't tell you clearly is that it is not designed for rain either. After a long period of steady rain (NOT a storm or heavy downpour) I came out to find water trapped on the canopy and the additional weight caused one corner to buckle the tubing. I submitted a warranty claim and was told that they know it traps water and that rain damage is not covered under warranty. They recommended putting in "rope rafters" to aid in water flow off the top and pushing water off with a soft instrument while it is raining (so they want you to sit out in the tent and tend to it each time it rains for an extended period of time). They then said I could purchase the repair parts to fix it. This is not a cheap product (price or quality) but if they know there is a flaw they should either fix the flaw or at the bare minimum, support the product when you submit a warranty claim. VERY disappointed in their customer service and still have a broken tent as I don't feel it is right to not stand behind your product. ... show more

  • Excellent product and Excellent customer service
We bought this in 2011 and have been please with it. When I first got it I noticed a possible problem with a couple of the small bracing tubes. I called customer service and sent them pics of what I noticed. Without hesitation they replaced the tubes and it has worked GREAT for several years. You MUST tie this down or it will take off in wind - they aren't kidding when they said that. I purchased a set of ratchet straps to ease the setup process. We also bought the sides for this and feel it is a must have in rainy weather. ... show more

  • It was missing a lot of parts
We replaced this tent that we use to sell produce in our small town. Unfortunately, it arrived missing quite a few of the bolts that were needed to hold it together. Fortunately, we were able to replace them at our local hardware store. The metal poles come in three parts, and one of the parts was missing the corrugation that enabled the poles to stick together. We have a good crew that were able to adapt this issue, so we were able to move forward. ... show more

  • Ok canopy but flimsy construction
I had a previous canopy that was galvanized 1 3/8 and failed at the fitting welds. I was looking for a canopy that was 18x20 and powder coated to prevent that. I saw this one and looking at the price I had to purchase it. My previous one was close to $1300 (but sturdy). My previous canopy poles were a solid 1 3/8. The poles on this canopy are 2" and powder coated, but the way the connect to the fittings and each other is the problem. The poles reduce at at least one end (about 2" from end) to a lesser diameter. This causes a lack of sturdiness and allow some play in the joint connection. The Legs and main outside poles are 2" but the inner poles (the ones connect between the legs, and the top roof run) area are smaller diameter. This creates a flimsy construction with a lot of play. The only way I prevented the play was to anchor it to my adjoining fence. The canopy poles are sectioned about 3'-4' in length that connect together to make the structure. My old canopy was able to hold the snow load that came through DC in the 2009-2010 winter months until the failure due to the rusted fitting. If it was powder coated, it would have lasted much longer. I had it for 9 years (no knowing about the weld joints. After the experience with my old canopy I would say this one could not stand up to strong wind gusts. I think it would bend in some areas if the wind catches the canopy right. I will wait and see.. This will be a good interim canopy until I build my own (in process). It will be a 1 5/8 Galvanized 17 gauge. Able to handle snow and wind.. :-).. This canopy will be good for those family reunions and that's about it.. ... show more

  • Made an Excellent Carport
Withstood heavy winds and rains, great for keeping the cars about 40*at cooler. Many holes and tears after 2.5 years, wish the cover was a heavier gauge.
