  • Keeps us dry on camping trips
Style: Canopy + Enclosure Size: Canopy + Enclosure
Keeps us dry on camping trips and keeps my Jeep dry when the top is down for the summer. A bit tricky to set up and take down but worth the effort. I have color coded the components to make for quicker setup. Kinda wish there was a man door on the second end panel.

  • Has stood the test of time
Style: 8-Leg Canopy Size: 10 x 10 ft.
I bought 3 of these about 18 months ago and put them up. The legs are two peices and the rafters are three peices. If they werent then these things would have to ship in ten foot boxes. The problem is that the top can blow off in the right circumstances if you only have the feet anchored. You could hang weights from the top to solve the problem. What I did was drill self tapping screws into all the piping wherever two came together to make a joint or a seam. Then I made sure the feet were anchored securely. During a heavy snowfall in the winter of 2010-2011, one of the canopies collapsed under 12-14 inches of snow. This was where the rafter pipes slid together to make one long pipe. I reshaped the metal pipe ends with pliers, etc; reinserted the pipes and placed pipe clamps on all the pipes used to support the canopy top. We had more snow and lots of heavy rain since then. They are still standing. I'll admit, they are partially anchored to chain link fencing but they are still standing and do not leak. By the way, I live in Alabama and in April of 2011 we had crazy storms and crazy tornadoes with the biggest one being a 50 year record setting F5. We've also had a number of 50-70 mph wind storms in that time. In all those storm and all that wind, these things are still standing. If I needed a cheap, semi-temporary/semi-permanent canopy again, I'd buy one of these in a minute (but I'd still make my modifications which is why I marked it 4 stars). UPDATE: SEP 14, 2012- Today, I am ordering 2 of these to replace the original 2 of 3 that I put up 26 months ago. The frames are still intact but the canopies have been beaten by the sun and weather. Also the bungee straps wear in time and I find it's best to replace those with heavy zip ties or aluminum wiring designed for securing chain link fence fabric. These tents have been up full time for the last 2 years. They have endured a lot of severe thunderstorms, wind, hail, torrential down pours but the last storm 2 weeks ago with sustained winds of 60 MPH finally ripped the canopies. ... show more

  • 8 posts is better than 6 - - - Hopefully.
Style: 8-Leg Canopy Size: 10' x 20'
I had a 6 post version of this canopy for two years and left it up year round. Last year we had record snowfall, and the framework collapsed under the weight of several inches of heavy snow. I purchased this 8 post version, which I believe will be substantially stronger and able to withstand more weight. NOTE: Shelter Logic doesn't warrant against collapse from snow on canopy. I intend to stand two 2x4's up as supports for center beam to further support the structure. We have a hot tub under the canopy and taking the canopy up and down isn't really an option. I'm reasonably confident that the 8 post version along with standing up the 2x4's if a heavy snow is predicted will provide the needed support. The canopy itself didn't even tear when the old frame collapsed, and I still have it. I was tempted to use it on the new frame because the material seems thicker, but decided to use the new canopy. Hopefully it's as strong as the old one. I still have the old one if it does fail. Update 3/21/2015 - We made it through winter#1. Didn't have any issues and the added reinforcement of the 2x4 supports wasn't needed, since we didn't really have any major snowfalls. I really think this is a value even if I only get two seasons. It's intended use is as a temporary structure, and we have ours up year round, and it holds up remarkably well. ... show more

  • Inexpensive, sturdy sun and rain canopy
Style: 8-Leg Canopy Size: 10 x 10 ft.
Excellent product. I have 2 ,one in nj and one in NC. I use both to keep rain and sun off me and my woodworking projects. I drove about one foot of two foot 1/2" rebar ($2 each at Lowes) into the ground and put the other foot inside each pole. I used #10 3/4 self tapping screws to hold together every joint. I attached nylon rope to each corner at the corners and into the ground using dog tie out screw type anchors. I take the roof off the NJ one for the winter but leave the frame up. I take the roof off the NC one for the summer but leave the frame up year round. I have had both canopies for 5-6 years and both frames are in very good shape. The tops are in good shape but I did remove the tops of the 2 NC ones for a few days during hurricanes. I thought of putting slit swimming "noodles" between the poles and the fabric but haven't done so yet. They work for my purposes but I laugh at the reviews where people say they bent with "only " a few hundred pound of snow on them. ... show more
