    • It straightens, but nothing fancy
I’ve owned several Remington straighteners so I know what to expect- they tend to work perfectly fine for a budget option. I will say my other Remington iron has a digital display and more in depth temp control options- this iron has five options (and they seem kind of random… 300, 340, 375, 410, 450). My other straightener also had a beep function to let me know when it is ready to use. This iron doesn’t have that and I think that’s a helpful feature. It is a little smaller length wise than I’m used to, but the plates seem to be the same size. It’s also considerably lighter. I have 3a curly hair but every so often I like to wear it straight and this flat iron has worked well for my hair. It isn’t the biggest flat iron but it is more powerful than I thought it would be. It has five heat settings and it heats up really quickly. The design is super stylish and sleek, and the plates are very smooth, and don’t snag my hair at all. There aren’t a lot of extra features on this, but it heats up quickly and you can adjust the heat settings, and it does a nice job at straightening my hair, so overall it is a good flat iron option. ... show more

The Shea Soft Flat Iron is small and perfect to take when travelling. It has a few heat settings that made it easy to control the heat. I have a very curly hair and for me it is very small and time consuming to use. It works well if already have my hair straighter and I need a touch up.     • Not as Effective as I had Hoped
When I ordered this, I was very hopeful, since it is manufactured by a well-known company as opposed to some of the cheaper alternatives I have used recently. After using this flat iron a number of times, it surprisingly feels more cheaply made than many of the off-brand flat irons I have tried. Many of the materials used feel of a somewhat lower quality than I had expected and, in order for it to be effective, I had to do several passes over the same portion of hair.     • It does what it has to
This is a nice straightener but it's not anything life changing, it's pretty basic. It's smaller then your average normal sized straightener so it can take some time to straighten your hair if it's long or thick.

Used this in my hair and had to use it multiple times to get it to work correctly. I have used other straighteners of similar cost that do not have these issues. It feels cheaply made and I would avoid.
