After one day I felt compelled to write a review. I have tried various balms, waxes, oils and etc. for my beard. Some bad some great but this is the best so far. I have a long coarse coiled beard that gets really dry. This is the perfect product for me. For those with thin straight and/or short hair, this might not be the product for you. Regarding the hardness, use the back of your thumb nail to scrape out the product. Then melt the balm by semi vigorously rubbing your hands together with the balm on your fingers. Use your fingers to message the balm onto your beard and roots. Yes, it is thick but that's exactly what my beard needs. The smell is nice, not strong and doesn't linger. I also use the beard oil prior to using the balm. So those complaining about the thickness probably don't need a thick balm...but for those of us who do..this is the product to try.

My bears is very thick and can quickly become dry and brittle, so moisture and protection is a must. I first tried this balm about 3 years ago and I didn't like using it because its very thick. I ended up using products from other companies and continued to have split ends and breakage that left my beard shorter along my neck The other balms felt more like a lotion. They were great for moisturizing, but offer very little in protection. I started using this product again and it's exactly what my beard needs. I scrape a good bit with the front of my nail and I rub it between my hands to warm it until its smooth and managable. Rub it into your beard and it solidifies into a very protective barrier for the hair. This protection lasts a very long time and keeps my beard together and neat all day.

Let me start by saying the Shea beard oil is perfect, ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, BUT, the beard balm is TERRIBLE!!! It's sticky, like glue sticky and hard as a rock!!! I had to dig it out of the jar. I bought the beard balm and couldn't wait to use it after loving the beard oil, but was sadly disappointed. When I tried to return it, because I thought and still think there is something wrong with this particular jar of product, I was informed after the fact it's not available for return/refund. I am always careful and check products/items BEFORE making the purchase to make sure of their return policy and saw nothing mentioned about that status for this product but amazingly, that status is now in the product description after a 20 minute chat session. Could be a coincidence or not. At the end of the day, it was a little less than $9.00, I guess I'll live.

I have been a bearded man for years and have used many beard products. This product is by far my favorite beard balm. Many men say it is too thick, too sticky, too difficult to get out of the jar. Using the back of your thumbnail, rake across the top of the balm, wipe your thumbnail across the palm of your other hand, rub palms together to warm the balm and apply it to your beard. Yes, it is thick and sticky but it gives excellent hold and volume to your beard. It is not overly fragrant, the price for the quantity is an excellent buy.

First time trying this. I was looking for a balm with a stronger hold since my beard has gotten longer and is harder to keep under control. I read another product review and saw someone recommend this for a stronger holding balm. Comes in a 4 ounce jar, which is double the usual 2 ounce tins balms usually come in. This stuff is more like wax than a balm. It is super thick and is rough applying, brushing and combing in. It has a strong hold that lasted all day, but it left my beard with a sticky feeling all day. The scent doesn't wear off either, and it's not pleasant for my. Gave my beard a glossy shine all day too. Works great for holding, but is really thick, feels more like a wax than a balm, has a lasting scent, and left my beard feeling greasy all day. Not for me, it's not a bad product, it works, but I don't think I'll be ordering it again.

Over several years I have tried various balms, waxes, oils and etc. for my beard. I have felt never completly satisfied about a single product. I have found some good ones, some bad ones. Bu this one is truly great. The best so far. I have a long beard that gets really dry and is hard to managed. This is the perfect product for me since it helps you shaping and combing in the morning but also sirves as conditioner without being too greasy. Also, it last a long time since only a little is all you need. I hardly write a review, but after years trying to find a product like this, I feel if it can help some other dude, that would be a fine thing. Give it a try.

I personally love this product because of three most important reasons. It gives a good healthy sheen to my beard that I can run a comb thru. It doesnt have any strong fragrance or odor that I can smell all day. Lastly, there is a good amount of product in this bottle. Sick of paying 10.00 -12.00 for a teeny tiny can of wax with other brands. I wouldnt say these product is for softness, more for sheen and taming frizzies. For softness, I use a cream based product.

Pros: The scent is subtle but pleasant, softens beard, keeps it manageable, and shiny (not overly), 4.0 oz goes a long way. Cons: Product is very hard (for a balm) and must be mixed before applying, feels like a thicker petroleum jelly, scent fades quickly, may leave hair feeling greasy. Overall, I think this is one of the better balms I’ve used. I use Honest Amish, Grave B4 Shave, and this product each has its respective pros and cons. The price is this product’s most redeeming quality. I have a medium sized beard (tapered on cheeks to just about two inches at chin and beneath; moreover, 4.0 oz lasts about a month. My beard hair gets dry and poofy without product and this balm keeps it moisturized and controlled most of the day.
