  • Love this stove
I'm a older women who can carry and set this up with no problem. The stack has to be cleaned after each use, it tends to get clogged but I do that anyway so it's less messy in the carry bag. I used it for 3 days straight had to let it cool one of the days and brush off the soot from top grate. Got clogged. ... show more

  • Nice stove
Pretty good little stove. Just be sure to do an initial paint burn off before indoor use. A heavy stoking lasted me a solid 4 hours before waking up freezing. (I was burning aspen and cottonwood, oak would probably last longer) At which point, had to re-stoke. It was dropping to the low 30's when I was out camping. Stove was still hot with many red embers left. Drafts pretty good, might have to drill some air holes in the door, to slow down combustion. It seems almost air tight with the door fully closed, and your fire will go out. Heats up quickly, and cools down quickly. Maybe throw some bricks inside and on top as heat sync? The little 2 inch pipe does build up with creosote somewhat quickly, but not bad. (After 3 nights of continuous use, was flaking up on the pipe walls.) Take about half an hour to make a pot of percolated coffee, heats up a cooking pot or pan just fine as well. 4 Stars for not having a better controllable air system. ... show more

  • Good product.
I had to add air holes under the door for it to burn right. If you leave the door cracked open so the fire can burn right. Smoke gets in the tent. After adding air holes it worked great...

  • A lot of bang for the buck. Read update
Great little stove. I love that it packs down and everything nests inside, and there’s a handle on the side to carry it. Also zones with a carry case, which also fit 2 extra pipe sections, stick lighter, gloves, fireproof mat, and a bag of tinder. The stove drafts well and puts out good heat. I wouldn’t recommend it for a big cabin tent/sheep herder tent, but it’s perfect for my Bell tent and also would work well in a spike or teepee. Update after a week in the woods: kept the tent toasty warm, though the smaller firebox meant having to add wood more often. By day 5 (4 full days of almost nonstop use) the flue was completely blocked with creosote and filled the tent with smoke. Just pull it off every few days and brush/burn it off and you’ll be fine. ... show more

  • Takes the edge off
The stove functioned as expected. It burned through the night and kept the chill at bay. Temps got down to 35f. The tent was 192 square feet. The radiant heat was most noticeable. Would be great for a smaller canvas bell tent. Still made a nice cup of coffee in the morning.

  • Great hot tent stove for the price! Not best to hike far with.
It is heavy. Don't expect to hike out dragging this along. As a stove to heat your tent it works well. Cooking on it requires having a bit fire inside, not the best, lacks a baffle to direct heat all over the top plate. Instead it has a hot spot near the chimney. Once hot smoke does not get into the tent. Replacing the chimney with a titanium version helps reduce weight to make it better to hike with. As for comments of creosote coating the chimney, make sure to burn dry seasoned wood not green or rotted and buildup doesn't happen. ... show more

  • A stove that you can be confident in setting up and using.
I snowshoe and cross-country ski with a sled, and as a member of BCH of America, I pack with mules and horses. That said, the weight is not much of an issue for me, but it does have some weight to it. Good points: easy to set up, doesn't take much fuel (wood), well developed with everything you need to heat your tent and cook your meals. Design is excellent. Can't say it's cheap, but it is inexpensive for sure, Great buy at any price. ... show more
