This wood splitter is very sturdy and does a good job splitting even freshly cut oak. Actually enjoyed using it, even though I'm 78 and no longer have much energy. It seems very well made and I'm glad to have it.

Bought this for the family at Christmas time & we had a tree cut down in April. This was an excellent tool for splitting the smaller and medium logs! Easy to use & small enough to keep on the camper storage. Definitely recommend!

This splitter was exactly what I expected. It is sturdy, works well, and seems to be built to hold up over time. I was impressed with the mounting holes in the base. I thought I would need to drill them myself, but the we're already done. The black finish is even and looks like it should hold up reasonably well. The cutting blade wasn't overly sharp, but it was right for its intended purpose. I would not hesitate to recommend one of these splitters for family or friends. ... show more

    • This is exactly what I needed!
I couldn't be happier with this little gem! It makes it extremely easy to split my bigger pieces of firewood into smaller, more manageable pieces. I have an outdoor smokeless firepit (you know the brand) and putting large chunks of wood in it makes it hard to keep "smokeless". This little splitter allows me to use uniform sized pieces, keeping them below the rim of the stove, to create the perfect backyard fire. It is also great for splitting large logs into kindling. I screwed the base of the splitter on to a piece of scrap 2x12 for added stability. I keep it next to my wood pile and cover the splitter with a 5 gallon bucket to keep it clean and free from rust/dirt/snow/etc. I would certainly not hesitate to buy this again! ... show more

    • Not easy to use. You need to bolt it down but where I don't know. I use it in the woods.
The split edge is not sharp and you need to strike a few times with a heavy hammer to crack wood. It requires less effort than an ax. But it still requires quiet a bit of effort to split 5-6" pieces. Works better for smaller wood (2-3" in diameter)
