This calculator's a great choice for someone looking for a non-programmable calculator that isn't an extreme eyesore. It does all the necessary functions for the class I'm in and its glass screen is beautiful. One thing though: The sliding shell that protects the screen and device. It locks into place fairly tightly which is great; I'm not afraid that it will come off on accident and leave my screen unsafe. But! With this in mind, it also requires a certain amount of pressure to open and it only seems to open if you apply pressure on it a bit. I try to open it with a squeeze to its sides and it doesn't work. Pressure on the top and bottom works. However do not apply pressure to the top of the shell. Since the grooves only go in about 2/5 of the case (the bottom end), the shell can go further into the calculator on upper side than it should. There's no barrier looking the device into place there. Meaning if u apply too much pressure too high up on the shell, it can scrape your screen! It's my first day using the device, second day owning it, and I already have a HUGE scratch that's really bumming me when I look at it. It's such a pretty device that it's disappointing. Maybe I'll buy another for the house to look pretty and take this one for class to get bumped around... Why waste money like that and cry over spilt milk. I don't know, I just like to keep my stuff in good shape and to see it get damaged that easily without me being careless or brutish... It's annoying

Look closely at the keys and you will see nice, big, bold ->HEX, ->BIN, ->DEC, ->OCT. Though, I don't know who still uses ->Pentdecimal. Perhaps BAUDOT to decimal may have some use? The AND, OR, NOT, XOR and XNOR functions are also handy. These functions make this very valuable for embedded programming and trying to put together low level configuration register contents. The rest of it is standard fare. Cartesian to vector conversion is a bit painful. It would also be nice if they would provide a way to buy a published text book that walked you through the various uses of the other, more complex functions. Like that whole comma thing.

This calculator is working perfectly for my Chemistry class. It is simple, easy to use, and the numbers are very easy to read. The only reason that I am giving it 4 stars is due to the fact that it is not back-lit, so it is a little difficult to see in low-light situations. So, if you work in a lab or somewhere where it is dark and are going to be using this, I would suggest getting one that is back-lit. Overall, this calculator is very simple, easy to use, and does the job. It is definitely a good alternative to the 150$ calculators out there!
