I must say the Shark HP102 was not my first choice. I wanted the Shark HP152 air purifier, but after trying (unsuccessfully) to find the replacement filter for the HP 152, I decided to just go ahead and get this one. I was able to easily find the replacement filters so I ordered the air purifier and extra filters together. The unit and filters arrived in 2 days, neatly and securely packaged. The air purifier came with set up instructions that were very easy to understand. There is also a manual you can download for more in depth instructions. I set it on "auto" and it's been on, (I think?.. because it's so quiet) doing its thing for 3 days. It took about 2 hours to bring my air quality up to 100%. (In appx 540 sq. ft area) Since then of course, the air quality varies- depending upon what is going on in the household, like cooking etc. It appears to be very sensitive to changes in air quality and reacts accordingly. The display readout is nicely arranged and user friendly. The fan settings (4) range from lowest, "I can't hear it- is it even running?" to highest, which is no louder than a normal household fan. I mainly wanted an air purifier because no matter how often I dusted, my house was still dusty... I am extremely happy with the results! I know it's only been 3 days so far, but there is just no dust anywhere! I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it. ... show more

I have a Dyson air purifier that has the heater but wanted another one so I didn't have to move that around the house. This one works very well, and unlike my Dyson this has a display showing the air quality. We have pets (2 dogs, 1 cat) and have noticed a huge difference in our allergies using the air purifiers. It also pulls cooking smells out of the air quickly. The auto mode is a nice feature, and I like the nighttime mode that turns off the display. ... show more

Nice unit. It isn't really for 500 sq feet. If you work out cadr rating it is much less. Apparently it cleans 500 sq ft once hourly whilst cadr refers to five times per hour.

We have 2 full dogs who are over 100 pounds and have long hair. They bring in all kinds of dust, dirt and dander. We live in a forest next to a field. There is constant dirt and debris around. My asthma symptoms have increased since moving here. We got this for the bedroom. I noticed a sudden decrease in dust in our bedroom. I also like the white noise it provides. Which is minimal. Likes it so much, we got another for the living room. This little device managed to erase the smell from 2 large pups. Hardly any noise, and can be set to “auto” so it runs only when needed.

I love this air purifier. The air quality is remarkably improved. I use it for a bedroom in my house were we keep 5 dog crates and you would not be able to tell by the smell after using this purifier.
