I've held off on this review for a few months just to see if I ended up changing my mind. I have 2b/2cish hair and style/wash using curly girl method always. I do diffuse to dry anytime I am actually styling my hair. I've had the xtava blow dryer and the black orchid diffuser for 5 years and have had no real complaints with it, until lately the dryer is melting the plastic of the diffuser. the xtava is quite heavy as hair dryers go, and with the diffuser it is also sizable. This one is WILDLY smaller, lighter than the Xtava. And probably more so than any other hair dryer I've ever used. I mean...it is TINY. But its a beast. It doesnt get as hot as the xtava (though still plenty hot...hot enough that my 7 year old can't use the high heat setting) and blows like crazy. The diffuser is smaller than I had hoped and my initial attempts at using it didnt give me what I wanted, and I was kind of disappointed. But after some trial and error and just working out what to do differently - this thing is great. It does dry my hair significantly faster, its light and easy to manage. The cord is nice and long. The diffuser clicks/locks on, so it never falls off. its not particularly noisy. The price is a little steep for me...so that gives me some pause, but if it lasts more than 5 years, I'll consider it well worth the price. ... show more

First use today—So far so really like the dryer. It was outstanding on my curly hair. Haven’t tried the other parts, but I’m sure they are going to work great too. It really does dry fast and hurray…no frizz at all. Weighs a bit more than my former dryer, but it works so fast and so good…I don’t have a problem. The diffuser is amazing..I’d say worth buying the dryer especially if you have curls or waves and would like some volume ( that was a fun bonus). ... show more

I received this hairdryer as a Christmas gift from my husband after putting it on my Christmas wishlist. I am soooo glad he got this hair dryer! It was between this and the Laifen but, kept reading about the Laifen dying quickly. I’ve been using this one over a month now, I didn’t know how bad my other Conair was until I got this hair dryer. It wasn’t a cheap Conair either but, it definitely blew my hair around more causing frizz. The main reason I wanted this hair dryer was because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis with alot stiffness in my hands and wrists. My Conair was so heavy but, this hairdryer is so much lighter and comfortable for me to use. It is also definitely not as loud. This hair dryer is also much gentler on my hair and doesn’t blow it around causing frizz while still drying my hair much faster. I use it on low and medium heat with the diffuser attachment, and it does not to get too hot. I also love the adjustable prongs on the defuser. For reference, I have fine and curly/wavy hair.
