I like the idea of a styling tool that can do more than one job, especially because hair tools can take over a bathroom fast. Between a dryer, round brush, curling iron, smoothing tool, and all the attachments that come with them, it is easy to end up with a drawer full of things that only solve one small part of the routine. This system by Shark is appealing because it combines drying and styling into one setup while still giving you enough attachments to actually change how you use it. The drying performance is strong. It moves a lot of air and can get hair dry quickly without feeling like it is relying on scorching heat to do the job. I would not take “no heat damage” to mean hair becomes magically indestructible, but compared with clamping hair in a hot iron or going over the same section repeatedly, this feels like a much gentler way to style. The scalp protection mode is also a smart addition because the roots and scalp are exactly where high heat can feel the most uncomfortable. The curling attachments are the most fun part. The air pulls hair around the barrel and makes curling feel much less awkward than trying to manually wrap each section around a traditional iron. It still takes a little practice to get the section size and direction right, but once you figure it out, it is much easier to create soft curls or waves without feeling like you are wrestling with your hair. The curls look bouncy and more natural than the super tight, overly styled look I sometimes get from a regular curling iron. The smoothing and brush attachments make this feel more useful as an everyday tool instead of something only for special styling. The oval brush is great when I want more volume and shape while drying, and the concentrator is useful when I want a more controlled blowout. The frizz smoothing attachment is also nice for finishing the style and calming down flyaways. It does not make hair look flat or greasy, it just helps everything look a little more polished. Switching attachments is simple, the handle is comfortable, and the air pause and cool shot controls are actually useful while styling. I also like that it converts between dryer and styler instead of being locked into one shape. It makes the whole thing feel more practical for real use, especially if you are trying to simplify a bathroom setup. The overall build quality feels very solid. The attachments lock in securely, the finish looks nice in the lilac color, and the whole system feels more premium than a basic hot air brush. It is still a lot of plastic, like most tools in this category, but it does not feel cheap or flimsy. The power is also there, which matters because a weak air styler is one of the fastest ways to turn a hair routine into a long, frustrating project. At around $350, this is definitely expensive, but the value makes more sense if it replaces several other tools. If you only need a basic hair dryer, this is overkill. But if you want one tool that can dry, smooth, curl, add volume, and finish a style with less direct heat than traditional hot tools, it is a very strong option. Overall, this is a polished and versatile styling system that makes at home styling feel easier without turning the routine into a full salon production.

We ordered this Shark ion air dryer to replace an inexpensive hair dryer that my wife has had for over 30 years. This package included the main dryer itself plus four attachments: the concentrator, the polisher, the oval brush, and a pair of curlers (right-hand and left-hand). The box and small included manual give hints on how to use these and why you might want them. The main unit has four temperature settings and three fan speeds, giving plenty of range for power possibilities. The manual also gives suggestions on which settings to use in certain cases. My wife and daughters tried everything. As a dryer with no attachments, it works quickly and relatively quietly. The buttons were responsive and easy to use. My wife and daughters are fairly low maintenance when it comes to their hair, so these attachments and some of their uses were new territory for them. They started with using the dryer by itself to get wet hair down to damp. (They did not find the concentrator useful, at least not yet.) One daughter with naturally straight hair wanted some curls. Following the directions on the box, my wife and daughter managed to generate some curls in under a few minutes using the curler attachments. (Using the oval brush and the polisher, they were also able to straighten out most of the curl afterward too.) The other daughter has wavy hair and wanted it straighter and smoother. They used the oval brush on her damp hair followed by the polisher on her nearly dry hair. The combination straightened out her hair somewhat and eliminated frizz too. The next day she wanted some curls, so she and her sister managed to add curls to her hair. I think they were successful, and they felt this curler was far safer than a traditional curling iron, but they also found the bulkiness of it more awkward to handle. I suspect they will become more adept with practice. They also tried the polisher on my wife’s fully dry hair. It also did a nice job smoothing and eliminating her frizz and flyaway hair. Beyond some awkwardness wielding the curler, the only other concerns are storage and price. The box is nice enough to use for storage but a bag to hold the accessories might have been nice too. The price is pretty hefty and far more than any of my family members would have spent on a hair dryer, but my wife and daughters are all very impressed with this product. This product is premium and comes with a matching premium price tag. If you can afford the price, you should be happy with the results.

I received this Shark FlexStyle IonCurl Ion Air Drying. I got this because I own other shark products and they all have been wonderful products. Well this one didn’t disappoint me. It comes with so many attachments that I didn’t know where to start. So then I picked what I love more and that’s curly hair. This shark product instructions are super easy to follow and easy to understand. This shark product was doing gorgeous curls to my hair and drying my hair at the same time. This device works as intended and is 100% better than described. I love the color purple because here at home it means pride. This device seems very durable. This shark device appears well made. This shark device looks strong. This shark device seems like it was made with high quality materials. This shark product heats fast. The brush I use it next day day and it gave me volume. I have thin hair but now with this brush the hair grows with volume without looking frizzy. This device do what it is supposed to do without damaging or burning my hair. This product is pricey but eventually you will get the money back by saving money and doing your hair at home looking very beautiful and very professional. This device makes a great gift for ladies. I got no side effects like rash or irritation while using this product. I recommend this hair device all the way.

Up front, I am not a big Shark consumer. I don’t have any brand loyalty for their products as I normally purchase Dysons. Having said that, I was pretty impressed with this product. I normally do not style my hair with any heat as I know it is terrible for your hair overall. Most products I had seen and tried out still utilized heat quite a bit, to produce curls and straighten. Enter the Shark FlexStyle. I am pretty impressed with what this system does and all the attachments that come with it. The whole thing just works and it isn’t overcomplicated or confusing—even for someone like me who tends to avoid most hair products. The whole thing is packed well and I really like how they just stick the instructions and guide on the box so you can see it while you are unpacking the whole thing. Pictures go a long way and everything is easy to identify with all the attachments and what not. Like a lot of products these days, there is the option to scan a QR code for helpful videos. This is basically one of those systems that you can just plug and play. Overall the whole thing feels sturdy and quality like. This is not just cheap plastic that feels like it will fall apart on you. The main unit has a little heft to it and the cord is log enough to reach a good distance. The attachments all click on and detach easily. The handle is easy to hold for my hand and isn’t awkward at all. The whole thing is just pretty impressive and shows how far we have come from regular blow dryers and hair curling irons. Everything just works and the fact that the cooling option is truly cool so you don’t have to worry about frying your hair is the biggest perk for me. I won’t have to be avoiding hair tools anymore with this. Love the oval brush on my hair and the auto wrap curlers were quite impressive since I have straight hair that normally will not curl very easily. The weight is not too heavy for me to use and the tools are super easy and versatile for all hair types. Considering how well this system works and the beautiful color (big purple fan here) I am not sad that I am straying away from Dyson with this—price in comparison at time of review is well worth it for the Shark at about half the price of the Dyson equivalent.

I have a confession... I was fully prepared to fall in love with this styling system because it's Shark, but I wasn't prepared to be obsessed before I even plugged it in. Can we talk about this color for a second? The lilac is GORGEOUS. And I don't mean "that's a nice purple." I mean it's rich, vibrant, metallic, and looks so much more luxurious in person than it does in the product photos. The pictures truly don't do it justice. Every time I walk by it sitting on my vanity, I smile. It feels like something you'd expect to see in a high-end salon. Then I turned it on... This thing is an absolute beast. The airflow is incredibly strong, and it dried my daughter's hair surprisingly fast while leaving it smooth, soft, and shiny. We tried several of the attachments, and every one felt thoughtfully designed. The oval brush gave beautiful volume, the styling concentrator made smoothing easy, and the auto-wrap curlers were fun to use and created gorgeous curls with very little effort. What impressed me most is that all of that power doesn't come at the expense of your hair. Shark regulates the temperature to help prevent heat damage, so I don't have that guilty feeling of wondering if I'm frying our hair every time we style it. That's a huge win for me as a mom. The entire system feels incredibly well-built. Nothing feels cheap or flimsy, and changing attachments is quick and easy. It's obvious Shark put a lot of thought into both the performance and the user experience. One thing I'm especially excited about is that Shark offers additional attachments separately. I already know I'll be purchasing the diffuser because I love having the option to expand the system instead of buying an entirely different styling tool. It's nice knowing this can grow with my styling needs. The funniest part? My daughter has already started asking, "Are you using YOUR Shark today?" which is code for, "Can I borrow it?" I have a feeling I'm going to need to hide this one if I want to keep it for myself. Beautiful enough to display on your vanity, powerful enough to rival salon tools, and versatile enough to replace several styling devices—Shark absolutely nailed this one. The Shark FlexStyle IonCurl delivers fast, effortless drying and styling, better than I even expected. I haven't had my hair cut in about five weeks, but it makes my hair look Iike I just left the salon. I could do okay achieving close to this look with my other styling tools; however, it would take a lot more time, effort, and involve being much harder on my hair and scalp with heat and pulling. The Shark FlexStyle added so much body and volume to my hair that it had such a healthy looking bounce. The lilac colored IonCurl includes all the tools you need to get started: a styling concentrator, oval brush, FrizzFighter high shine polisher, and two Coanda auto-wrap 1.25" curlers for the right and left sides. All of the controls are simple and fast to learn, and the attachments go on and off with ease. I have enjoyed all of the attachments, and I am still experimenting with the different styles I can achieve. The FrizzFighter has been particularly helpful during this hot, humid summer. This is such a versatile and useful tool for achieving a fast, professional looking style. I have purchased many Shark products over the years and know they make high quality products that stand the test of time. In fact, I just replaced my 15-year-old Shark vacuum, not because it stopped working, it was just time for an upgrade, so this is a brand I trust to deliver a long life and great value with its products.
