A few quirks, but overall great value

Sharp out of the box, cutting paper effortlessly. Blade design is minimal, but that’s not what I bought it for. Speaking of the blade, I got the shorter version 6 inch something which is fine, but this one has the profile closer to a a boning knife than a chef’s knife, so we’ll see how that works out. The back of the blade has a slight bump to it, which I could do without, but very slight. Still I wonder why that’s there as it seems to add nothing. Nice hefty feel to it, although perhaps a bit heavy in the handle if you’re fussy about proper weighting (knives should balance like a seesaw right where the blade meets the handle). Overall, it’s a pretty handsome little knife, although I think if I had to do it over again, I’d buy the bigger one. I suppose I could send this one back in exchange, but then again, the price goes up quite a bit so there’s that. I held back one star because of these things, and I really haven’t had a chance to see how well the blade will hold up. Apparently it’s quite hard steal, which usually equates to staying sharp longer, but being more brittle and there’s always the trade-off with the blade that stays sharp longer, because it’s also More difficult to sharpen. Update: I liked the knife so much I went back and bought the 8 inch version and again, razor Sharp right out of the box. If you wait, you can catch this knife on sale at a ridiculously discounted price, which is what I did., and it’s a no-brainer when they discount it. Don’t even think about it just buy it. If you don’t like it, you can send it back, but you won’t. I’m upgrading to five stars.

Awesome quality
Size: 7PCS Knife Set
Beautiful knives, NOT "Laser etched" as some may claim - they are San-Mai... the hardened steel is sandwiched between 33 layers of softer stainless steel damascus on each side, for a total of 67 layers total. The larger knives are balanced VERY well, and the fit and finish is almost equal to knives costing many hundreds more. (I'm a custom knife maker, so that is a big deal for me) My only gripe, is that one of the smaller of the set came less sharp than I expected (all the other ones were scalpel sharp), but I have a knife sharpening hobby, so that's a non-issue for me. These are the Chinese version of VG10, and you'd find yourself almost impossible to tell the difference. (It's the same steel formula, but with a VERY slight advantage over the time-tested VG10... given the same heat treatment) My best Kitchen knives are VG10, and these are on pare with them. Beautiful, ultra sharp, relatively easy to sharpen, long lasting edge, and a pleasure to work with in the kitchen. BUT - bear in mind... the edge is SO hard (which is amazing for edge holding abilities), DO NOT cut bone, or anything you wouldn't try to bite with your teeth, and they'll serve you well. Also, NO DISHWASHER- HAND WASH ONLY, and only use an end-grain WOOD cutting board... no metal, ceramic or hard surfaces to cut on. Take this advice and you'll adore these. (BTW - the advice given here applies to ALL knives made with today's modern "super steels")

So nice I bought it twice!

I watched a YouTube video that reviewed this knife. It is so nice for the money, I’ve bought a 2nd one now and a friend has also purchased one it’s that good! I’m never going to own chef quality knives, I cook a lot and I reach for this one over my old trusty Cutco knife each time. It works perfectly, is super sharp and glides through chopping. The grip feels right in my hand and weight is nice. Seriously no faults. It comes with a clear plastic cover and a decent box but I tossed the box and just keep it in its sleeve so I don’t accidentally cut myself. Do yourself a favor and raise your chopping game with this easy to use knife.
