Like a few other reviewers have said, great fishing rod for playing with cats! I had one of the little rods made for cats and it just did not hold up to my boys. This one holds up to their antics and can actually cast, making it a whole lot more fun for me and for them.

This casting rod is super easy to use, and it’s great fun for playing with cats and kittens. I recommend wrapping the fish sinker with fabric or padding because it’s too hard for a cat to hold in its mouth. Take care to not cast at the cat! I know this rod is meant for small children, and I think it would be great fun for them, especially if they have loved ones that fish. How exciting to have their own rod and go fishing with parents or grandparents! -easy to use -lightweight -perfect size for a small child -great value for the money, especially if purchased via daily deal Only drawbacks I can see: -cannot restring the line reel; though I haven’t tried -does not float -probably not strong enough to reel in a big fish. -the sinker fish enclosed is really hard. If child has poor aim, could easily bean someone on the head— USE PARENTAL GUIDANCE Definitely a 5 star product. I would have loved this as a kid.

Pros: ✅ Kid-Friendly Design – The Cars-themed graphics are a hit with young kids, making them excited to use their very own fishing pole. ✅ Easy to Use – The push-button casting system makes it simple for beginners to cast without tangles or frustration. The reel functionality is also easy to use and to teach kids - my son is 2.5 and has been able to figure it out! ✅ Durable & Well-Made – Despite being a kid’s rod, it’s sturdy enough to handle real fishing trips. ✅ Lightweight & Portable – The compact size makes it easy to carry on family fishing outings. Cons: ⚠️ Weak Fishing Line – The pre-spooled line is fine for very small fish, but I recommend replacing it with a stronger monofilament or braided line for better durability. Overall, the Shakespeare Disney Cars Fishing Pole is an excellent first fishing rod for kids. It’s fun, easy to use, and a great way to create lasting memories on the water. Just swap out the original line for something stronger, and it’s good to go!

My 2-year-old granddaughter loves this toy. She and her grandpa play with it in the yard all the time. It's easy for her to use, and it's teaching her the skills she needs when Grandpa takes her fishing for real in a year or so. I’m glad I bought this for her.
