I purchased multiple of these shades for my screened in patio. We added additional pressure treated boards on either side of the columns to allow for the mounting brackets. The shades are easy to install. They give full privacy while blocking the sun from keeping us from seeing the screen of our outdoor TV. They are hand operated to move them up and down so no issue with the motor failing. I have not needed to clean them but when the pollen season hits they appear to be an easy hose off for cleaning. Great product! I have a screened in porch that gets unusable hot sunny summer afternoons. The two openings are odd sizes so we bought the next larger size and cut/trimmed them to fit. Easy to do and looks great! The Shade provides the perfect amount of light.

We needed a shade on our deck, but couldn’t find the right size. We have vertical beams in the space we wanted to shade. The sun shades were either too wide & would have to overlap, or too short & would leave a gap of sunlight coming thru. And then we found these ones! As we watched the installation video, I realized that before attaching the end cap, the roller bar & fabric could be cut to fit the size we needed! We ordered shades a little wider than our space, & my wonderful Mr. Handy did a fantastic job with the alterations! We thought we might have to melt the raw edge of the fabric once we cut it, but it doesn’t unravel. Installation was not complicated, & all the parts were included. Mr. Handy had the whole project complete in under 3 hours. We are SO HAPPY with how it’s turned out! No gaps, no overlap or wonky placement, & it looks great! Don't be afraid to make it fit your space - just remember to measure twice (or thrice!) because you can only cut once! ... show more

Good product! I received the shades yesterday and installed them today. The directions are pretty much useless, but I checked out the video...which helped a great deal. It was very difficult installing the shades using a ladder by myself...especially trying to center a 7 foot wide shade 8 feet up. I eventually was successful, if not a bit off-center (my fault). It looks and works great - retracting and extending effortlessly. The material is fairly sturdy, but the small pole that inserts into the shades that hangs at the bottom is not stable and slides apart when moving around while installing. It needs to be secured better. I'm happy with the purchase and it does what I needed it to do, stop the hot summer sun from heating the living room! ... show more

This was easy to setup. It's the same as many other brands. However rolling it up doesn't always go evenly. It needs a mechanism to keep it from rolling to one side too much.
