I purchased this bed because I wanted something black to replace the white IKEA bed I had previously, as it disappeared into the light colored walls. It was very easy to put together, and very well-made. The previously mentioned IKEA bed was not nearly as well made as this. This bed had a "million" pieces but there were no problems putting it together. A suggestion if you are putting it together by yourself you are going to need a small chair or footstool to balance the frame on when you have to slide the side rails together. Other than that it is very sturdy. I wish that the headboard was taller because I have a boxspring and mattress and with pillows on the bed, you can't really see the headboard as pictured.
