I always keep a heated blanket on my bed in the winter. It had not been heating very well and decided to replace it with this. I liked the idea of it because we sleep with our pets in our bed, so water proof was a must. This is definitely water proof, but it heats the bed so much better than my blanket did. It gets warm fast and I love that it has two thermostats for my husband and I. We like different temperatures when sleeping. The timer on them is great in case I fall asleep with it on. Took a while to get here. Got it today. Put it in the bed and turned it on. Setting for heat goes up to 10. I put it on 5 and checked it about 15 minutes later. Very warm. Turned it back to 3 to start. Temp controls are easy to use unless you're old and can't see. I don't believe they light up which makes them even harder to see. They do work well. Comfort yet to be determined. It's waterproof so it has plastic on it. Kind of noisy. With a flannel sheet on it will probably help. Pain relief: Don't know yet. I bought this for my mom to help her keep warm. She does have problems with her hips so we'll see if it helps. Seems to be well made and fit mattress pretty good. Not a very thick mattress so not sure how it would fit on a pillow top or some thicker mattresses. Would buy again. I didn't give 5 stars because I just received it and it hasn't been use yet. May do an update later. UPDATE My mom loves it. She said it does help a little with pain. It mostly helps keep her warm and helps her relax (which helps with pain). We are very happy with this warming mattress pad. It does the trick to keep my husband warm. It can get very hot on higher settings than "1". We always use it on the lowest heat setting. I love that in 10 minutes the chill is gone on cold sheets. Can't feel the coils through the pad and using the automatic timer allows for a quick go-to-sleep! ... show more

I used to be a heated blanket guy, but I heard good things about switching to a heated mattress pad, the heater control on this is perfect, heat setting 1 gives a light even heat feeling, and every level is just a bit more and more and it is very consistent, 4 seems to be my favorite and if you feel as though you want to cook anything over 8 is wow. These things seem to die out on me ever three years or so. I just use it to warm the bed up and turn it off when I get in. Other heating pads I have had to turn up to 10 to get hot enough. This one I only turn to 6. It does a very good job. I think I will buy another since my savings are evaporating with inflation and the price of this is sure to go up sooner or later. ... show more

I have no heat, and it has been between 52-56F inside my house at night, and another electric blanket broke. I decided to do a little research and see what things say about heated mattress pad vs blanket, and thought I’d give it a try. Wow! While I used to have my blanket on high and was sometimes wondering if it was on when it was… this one if I leave it on high I break out in a sweat! It’s amazing! I usually can only have it on high when first freezing, then bring it to 6!! But sometimes wake up in the middle of the night sweating because I fell asleep before turning it down! Bonus perk- my 53 year old body that has been standing and doing hair for 32 years loves it too- I am a back sleeper, and it really helps loosen my tender shoulders and sore hips! Going to miss it in the summer, when I go crazy and try to find something as effective for cooling! ... show more

    • Warm & cozy, but a major design flaw

There's so much to love about this heated mattress pad: Comfort, warmth, controls are easy to work and has several heat levels to select. (Although on my last one, the cloth underneath literally fell apart when I took it off the bed. Luckily it was within the 12 month warranty period, but still a hassle.) Anyway, the major design flaw is that the cord plugs in at the bottom of the mattress pad by your feet. And you want the controls up by your head, right? Presumably on a nightstand or headboard. The cord is a little bit too short to do that without having to monkey around with the cord and stretch it farther than it probably should be for safety. I even tried to flip the pad around to have the plug up toward the head of the mattress instead, but the cord connection is too big & lumpy to have right there by your head. So it's a bit wonky but there's no way around it. I wrestled with different configurations for nearly an hour. I just had to do the best I could. The cord between the mattress pad plug & the control should be another 6-8 inches longer, at least. Ugh. (SERTA: PLEASE PUT SOME MORE THOUGHT INTO THIS DESIGN FOR A MORE PLEASANT USER EXPERIENCE!). ... show more
