  • Among the best of the Sciatica Belts
Size: Medium
I've been using this belt for many years. I've had several. It is simple, and it works. I no longer have a sciatica problem. I wear it a few times a week during the day. Never sleeping overnight. It's a narrow belt, not bulky, simple to put on and remove. Worn easily without discomfort. Quality is fine--it lasts for years. It is relatively expensive because of it's reputation as one of the best sciatica belts. ... show more

  • Best Made Belt, Immediate Relief, Improves Hip Strength (get the NEW version)
After trying a few, this is the most comfortable, best made, and least ugly belt of the bunch. It is absolutely enabling me to recover and strengthen. Made by a chiropractor who has iterated on the design for a couple decades. This belt is more flexible that the standard disposable white belts,, works in water and during workouts. I play competitive squash and wear it under my skirt. I wear it outside of clothes or inside...it works either way for me. HOW TO WEAR: Short video on how to place the belt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIdOLp5ByWU Initially I was wearing it a bit too high. You bend your knee up and the belt should sit level with the start of your thigh. INSTANT RELIEF: I have spinal stenosis, unstable pelvis, and pain radiating down my leg. The pain kept me from walking. This belt immediately made activity possible again. Working with chiro and spine docs, I'll be wearing it 3 weeks, and then I might just wear it during really tough match play. RESEARCH - STABALIZES JOINT SO YOU CAN IMPROVE HIP STRENGTH: A Si belt is different from belts that take over muscle duty- it supports the hips like an external ligament so the joint stabalizes and the muscles can work better. That means more movement and rehab! Video on the theory of the belt: Serola Belt Benefits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1Jk8YzGEpM ----------------------------------------- Here is some research by Precision Biomechanics detailing how the belt helps improve strength. (google Case Study: Sacral Belt Improves Hip Stability during Running) http://www.precisionbiomechanics.com.au/#!Case-Study-Sacral-Belt-Improves-Hip-Stability-during-Running/c18si/879ACB32-62FA-430D-9E2E-B92875E0C258 The spine is connected to the pelvis via the sacroiliac joints. Any loads transferred from the lower limbs to the spine must pass through these joints therefore joint dysfunction can cause significant pain especially during dynamic activities such as running. Despite their frequent use, very little scientific evidence exists documenting the effectiveness of sacral belts during running. Studies have confirmed their ability to reduce load in the sacroiliac joint tendons and ligaments (Sichting et al. 2014), and to engage hip stabilising muscles during supine leg raise activities (Park et al. 2010), but to our knowledge no study has assessed their effect on running kinematics. Here at Precision Biomechanics we provide perhaps some of the first quantitative evidence for the efficacy of sacral belts at improving hip stability during running. An athlete experiencing feelings of subjective pelvic instability whilst running recently visited Precision Biomechanics. Below is a series of graphs illustrating her hip function whilst running both with and without a sacral belt. When running without the belt (left graphs) large asymmetries were observed in her peak hip collapse and peak pelvis drop, with motion increased and decreased on her right and left sides respectively compared to our database of runners. When wearing the belt (right graphs) significant improvements were observed; peak hip collapse and peak pelvis drop on the left and right sides became symmetrical. Given where the belt sits around the pelvis, it is unlikely that the belt ‘holds’ the runners hips in place or takes over the role of the hip stabilising muscles. Instead, it is more likely that the belt provides proprioceptive feedback prompting the runner to switch on her stabilising muscles. The belt may therefore be a very useful training tool for improving hip strength. ... show more

  • Relief!
Great quality and genuine relief! So thankful for this belt. I’ve suffered from back pain for years and after suspecting an SI joint issue I stumbled upon this. It’s a life changer.

  • SI Joint Dysfunction
Size: Medium
I bought both the Serola Sacroiliac Hip Belt and the Pro-Tec Athletics SI Back Belt with Compression Pad. I’m going to compare both belts and then give my personal recommendation. I am an intermediate powerlifter. Im about 200lbs and somewhat solid. I’ve had SI joint dysfunction on and off for about 10 years. It went misdiagnosed for about half that time. Comfort/Quality: Serola takes the cake in this category. It is of sturdier construction and comfortable to wear. The Protech would be more comfortable if it wasn’t for that big metal buckle. If you wear this belt under your clothes, that metal buckle wears on you. Serloa is just a thicker and stiffer belt. It has fewer seams than the Pro-tech. The Pro-tech actually ripped on me, which prompted me to buy the $20 more expensive Serola. Effectiveness: I have a big gluteus maximus and medius. The Pro-tech has this thick pad that sits on your sancrum, and makes the belt more effective for me. You’re supposed to wear the belt under your iliac crest. For me, my medius (upper butt) makes a gap between the Serola belt and my sacrum(tail bone area). The Pro-tech’s pad fills in that gap and allows better contact and support. If it wasn’t for the tear and metal buckle, I wouldn’t be comparing the two. With that said, the Serola is effective. It’s just NOT AS effective. It has a tendency to ride up because of the shape of my body. A lot of people may not have that problem. Both belts do help with pain and support. Final thoughts: If you have a big round butt and a smaller waist (men and women), then youll find the same minor issues I do. However, because of the metal buckle and rip in the Pro-tech I can’t even recommend it. Serola if youre listening, add a pad like the Pro-tech for your big booty customers. Pro-tech, if youre listening, get rid of the buckle and make the product sturdier with less seams. First one gets my money. ... show more

  • Excellent quality and helps with pregnancy-related SPD
Size: Large (Pack of 1)
I really like this belt. It’s made with high quality materials (doesn’t stretch out) and provides enough compression to allow me to walk. I like that it’s a one piece belt. I tried the pregnancy SI-LOCK belt and much prefer the Serola belt. I am 28 weeks pregnant and the belt sits low enough that it doesn’t squeeze my bump. ... show more

  • Helps some but doesn't stay in place, causes other pain for me
Size: Large (Pack of 1)
This helps when it stays in place, but it tends to ride up on me. Unfortunately, I can't wear it for too long - it does ease the SI pain, but then I start to get pain at my pubic symphysis. So, I guess it's one or the other for me.

  • Worth the money
Size: Large (Pack of 1)
I’ve struggled with lower back pain, sciatica, and sacroiliitis for years. I’ve used lower back supports in the past, but didn’t help with the hip pain. Within two days of using this belt my pain was reduced substantially and it is more comfortable and concealable than the back support I normally use. ... show more
