  • Great Portable Unit
Set name: 10,000 BTU Cooling Only
Within a short time, the unit had the bedrooms upstairs cooled down and at a nice temperature. What’s nice is I can switch to just dehumidify or on AC since the unit has three settings. I don’t plan on using just the “fan” option but it’s nice to have the options. My son let me know the following day he slept really well and thankful the temperature stayed consistent throughout the evening. It doesn’t pull much power to use and hasn’t been an issue at this campground. Worth the price for a peaceful nights sleep! Decently lightweight and quiet. ... show more

  • Cool Little Unit
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling With Wifi
I purchased this during the winter months and waited until summer came to write a true review. This unit is great! I use it to lower the temperature of my room, the hallway and my child's room across the hall. If I close the door, the room will definitely get chilly. I leave it open so the cool air can help keep the upstairs in general cool though. The upstairs of my apartment is insufferable during summer, the sun also shines directly into my room through cheap blinds I haven't replaced haha. That greatly increases the temperature as well. All in all, great little unit and not obnoxiously loud either. It keeps the whole upstairs very tolerable for the bathroom, my baby's room, and my room ... show more

  • Quiet...Cool...Perfection!
Set name: 12,000 BTU Cooling Only
I live in a 750 sq ft apartment, and already had a small 6200 BTU window-unit installed in my master bedroom. However, when temps reach above 75 it can't cool the rest of the apartment effectively by itself. Due to the size of the windows in the rest of my apartment, getting an additional window-unit was out of the question. This 12000 BTU portable unit is exactly what I needed. The unit is extremely/surprisingly quiet (see attached video) even at high speeds. In combination with the window-unit, leaving the portable at low speed is plenty to cool the rest of the apartment. I haven't tried the dehumidifying option yet, so can't speak to any water issues others might have encountered. The only criticisms I have are that, while there is a temperature setting on my model it doesn't have an auto shut-off once that temperature is reached (like in-home central AC). Also, the couplet attached to the exhaust hose is/was very loosely connected (the hose actually detached the first time I connected it to the unit). However, this isn't a big issue since the hose screws back into the couplet, and I used some weather tape (gaffers or duct tape would work as well) to keep it all secure. Finally, if you have odd sized windows (that make installing a window-unit a challenge) a portable unit like this may be just what you need. I was able to rig up the exhaust hose to my glass block windows (they have a screened pop-out window to the outside) using a combination of weather tape and plastic sheeting. It works perfectly, and the hose is rigid enough to stay in place. I'm only a week into using the unit, but I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I may buy a second one next summer and ditch the hassle that comes with installing my window-unit completely. Very highly recommended! ... show more

  • Finally A Comfortable Garage
Set name: 12,000 BTU Heating & Cooling With Wifi
I got this AC unit to keep my garage a little more comfortable during the Texas summer. We haven't hit the extreme temps yet, but so far so good! It does what I wanted-- my garage is no longer an oven and I can actually get things done in there. I imagine in a better insulated environment it has no problem cooling a room to a genuinely cool temperature. I'm not too concerned about the noise level in my garage, but I'd say it's a reasonable level that most people would have no problem with, even in a bedroom while sleeping. It came with everything needed for setting it up, and I was up and running in under 15 minutes. The remote is handy and functional, and it's easy to move around if you need to (handles and wheels). Really happy with the A/C function and looking forward to seeing what the heater can do in the winter! ... show more

  • Bought 2 12,000 units, worked great summer 2021, 2022 1 doesn't work now
Set name: 12,000 BTU Cooling Only
So, I bought the 12,000 unit, and just placed an order for a 2nd. I feel the first few uses, it got the bedroom very cool, the lowest setting is 60 degrees. Now, it's only "cooling" the bedroom, and not as icy as it once was. Hmm. I'm not sure, so I just ordered another and do not want to waste such a huge amount of money (the other is for the extra bedroom or dining room area). I tested this in our bedroom (ours is smallish, works well), then the small dining room and it worked well with our ceiling fan to cool kitchen/dining off and feel some blowing into living room as well. I tried it by the front door/living room, our living room is huge, so I didn't notice a huge cooling difference, I would think that the living room would need 2. The good: -Very Portable, I can just wheel room to room (has deep handles) so easily! -Set up, was EASY, simple and quick (even getting out of the box). -At first works amazing -I haven't experienced any leaking, but I don't turn it on "dry", I turn it on "cooling". -The hose is LONG -Window piece was easy to fit and put in, quickly and works pretty good, with minimal gaps. -comes with hose/window kit -Casters/roll super easy -feels sturdy -Cools to 60 degrees (other ones we bought go down to 65 degrees only). -It tells you how "warm" or the temp of room at current (when turned off) -remote control is great. It has 3 different fan speeds, swinging of the fan blades, and you can set cooling level, also dehumidifies (I have not used this yet!) or you can use as just a fan. -You can keep in window at all times with a dowel, or it comes out easily if you need to close window (absolutely 100x easier than a window unit in my opinion). Is it cooler than a window unit? Jury's out. -Energy saver, so hasn't blown any circuits or fuses (I'll update when I get my power bill). The Bad: -The "swing" feature on mine where the flaps rotate the air (you can turn off) SQUEAK LOUDLY, annoying and so I turn it "off". -It is LOUD like a loud fan -It is big, like bigger than a night stand, like half size of a dresser -Jury is out on if it cools well enough after first couple weeks??? -The BIG problem is the back where the hose attaches, no matter what I do HEAT ESCAPES, the hose is warm/hot, and the heat ALSO escapes at the end by the window. I will need to buy pipe insulation and tape it on I think to remedy it. The hose is long and great, but it's cheap and may rip easily, And why does heat escape out the back no matter what, it's ANNOYING. And that heats up the room, if I could solve this issue (I'll update when I try thermal wrap), and see if it helps. Putting a screen in the window keeps bugs out, but I feel the screen "out" of the window makes the heat go out better/cooling room off better/but small bugs can get in. -The window piece is flimsy but fits in my bedroom window it does not however fit in my small dining room windows, I wish the size was more VERSITIALE. The piece that hooks to the window part falls off a lot/heat escapes. -Wish/needs to come with thermal wrap for hose. -They REALLY need to have added a "screen" on the end of the hose for hanging out windows, without window screens, otherwise bugs could just crawl right up it. Update: 1 doesn't work. I only used a few months last summer. Tried cleaning filters, turning on and off, it's huge and bow I got to dump it. Waste of over 400$ when I've had window units last 8 years or more. I tried everything and it only blows fan room temperature air no air condoned air. ... show more

  • Quieter than others and easy to set up
Set name: 12,000 BTU Cooling Only
12,000 BTU Unit - This is the 3rd floor model air conditioner I’ve purchased and I love it. The packaging was very sturdy. Heavy cardboard box, thick styrofoam padding and nylon straps outside the box protected the unit which was delivered in perfect condition. Unpacking was a breeze. One of the things I love about this unit is the exhaust hose is a heavy, more rigid plastic material that easily snaps into the unit. Other units like this came with flimsy exhaust hoses that needed to be stretched over the exhaust port. I always ended up buying heavier hoses and attaching them with large steel “worm” clamps. Not necessary with the SereneLife unit. The window insert is not as tall as others so it allows more visibility out the window but because of the size and characteristics of my window I had to raise it with a 1” board cut to fit the sill. I also had to trim about 4” from the slide out part for it to fit in my sill. Not a big deal. Took me a minute with my table saw but could easily be done with a hand saw. On a positive note, if you have a very wide window this will fit with no extra work. Also there is a tab to lock the slide expander j to place. I’ve never seen this on previous units. A convenient feature. Now to the important stuff - cooling the house… The unit easily cools my L-shaped living / dining room area as well as the attached kitchen. That’s about 1000 sq ft.. I do have 2 ceiling fans running at slow speed to help circulate the cool air. It is MUCH quieter than previous units I’ve owned. There is a feature that allows the cool air directors to slowly oscillate up and down. I don’t use it but you may find it beneficial. It has a sleek appearance that is aesthetically pleasing. The price was very reasonable for such a powerful, effective air conditioner. Now I’ll mention a few negative issues… 1. There is no screen to cover the outside end of the exhaust port. Depending on where your window is critters and debris can easily find its way into the hose. I’m going to make a screen cover for it. 2. The remote is pretty flimsy and there is no display. My other units had remotes that displayed the same info that is in the unit display. Also the lettering of the functions of the remote buttons is really tiny. 3. As stated, the window unit is very low profile and very wide. Depending on the design of your window you may have to raise the window insert and/or trim the width of the slide expander. All easy things to do but know that it’s possible. All and all I’m very pleased. ... show more

  • Working great!
Set name: 12,000 BTU Cooling Only
I bought this little dandy because our primary system is not working right and we needed something to cool a large bedroom at night while the AC repairman is waiting for parts to come in. This SereneLife 12.5 portable unit has been running continuously for five days and nights now and is doing a great job. I was concerned about the hassle of draining condensation but that has not been necessary so far - and it has been more humid than normal here lately. The instruction booklet says that in cool mode there is some kind of self-evaporation system and I guess there must be because after it had run a couple of days I did remove the drain plug just to check and only a few ounces of water came out, so I quit worrying about that. Noise is going to be subjective and I was concerned about that too, but for no need. We've been pleasantly surprised and don't find it to be very loud at all and most of the sound it does make is white noise, which has actually helped our sleep. It's much quieter than any window unit I've ever been around. I really like the design of the window vent kit, but did have to shorten the smaller sliding section by a few inches as others have also mentioned. With a circular saw using a plywood/laminate blade it was smooth and easy, but a simple miter box and hacksaw should do the job too, just anything to help make a smooth/straight/square cut. Last but certainly not least, it's blowing some mighty cold air and I plan to keep this thing handy even after the primary ac system is fixed. It was among the most competitively priced options when I bought it and well worth the coin. Just my own opinions and experience here, yours may differ. Good luck! ... show more

  • With smart tricks you can cool a much larger area
Set name: 12,000 BTU Cooling Only
The 12k BTU works very well. The first one I ordered began to leak water on the floor. I was eventually able to take it apart and found that inner water tray had cracked. The box was damaged on arrival so I presume it most likely happened during shipping. The company sent me a new unit, which worked great with no problems. This unit cooled a large area of my single family home while the central air was out. * If you have humidity in your area, this unit will create a lot of water. In Maryland, I'd get about 4 gallons of water every 9 hours or so. If I forgot to check the drainage bucket at least two times per day, it would overflow. The manual or description says something about how the unit is designed to evaporate water out the exhaust tube to the outside so you don't get much water drainage. However, in my experience, you definitely need a large bucket to catch the water and you need to empty it frequently. The alternative would be to (A) use a longer tube that can be run at a downward slope out the door or window or (B) set the unit in a bathtub or over a floor drain so the water can just run down the drain. You will need to have a window nearby for the hot air tube. I did the bathtub method for a while and that worked great. *Wrap the hot air tube in insulation or a sheet, blanket, or towels to keep it from dissipating some of its heat back into your room. This makes a big difference in how much cooling you can achieve. *If you need to cool a larger area, such as multiple rooms, you can use a regular fan to spread the conditioned air around. For instance, put the AC unit in Room 1, venting out the window. At the doorway into Room 1, place a regular floor fan blowing into the next room. *Make sure the water drainage tube is running at a downward angle so the water doesn't backup and overflow from within the machine. With the machine sitting on the floor, I could not fit a 5 gallon bucket under the tube, so I used a 3 or 4 gallon bucket, which sat just below the level at which the tube exits the AC unit. If you have much humidity and use a small bucket, you are almost guaranteed to have your bucket overflow and create a big mess. If you don't have a bucket at least 3 gallons, it is worth it to get one. *After experiencing a couple of drainage bucket overflows when it was not in the dry bathtub, I set the AC unit and drainage bucket on a rubber/plastic boot tray that contained any overflowing water. This worked well. You could also use a water heater drain pain. *If you're struggling to keep your place cool, try to avoid cooking inside. It adds a significant amount of heat to the house. Instead, choose recipes that don't require any/much cooking, grill outside, or cook in the crockpot and leave it plugged in outside or in the garage. *Thermal film on windows prevents about 50% of the sun's heat from coming in your windows. If you use much air conditioning in your area, doing this on the sun-facing windows of your house would likely make pay you back quickly in both comfort and financial savings. ... show more
