Perfect to cool a floor of my house

I bought this portable a/c unit to use for cooling my workshop. I ended up needing it for emergency cooling for my house when my a/c went out. I really appreciated having the portable design, rather than a window unit, because it was so simple to move and hook up the exhaust to my window. The window installation kit is very simple to use and can be made to work with most windows. I didn’t even have to remove the screen. It doesn’t require any expertise, unlike windows units that require getting the correct angle and securing the unit so it doesn’t fall. This provided a great amount of cooling for the entire main floor of my house, I was really impressed. I have an open concept floor plan and the square footage of the space I was cooling was about 500sqft. Though rated for a slightly smaller space, I thought it did a good job of keeping up with the cooling load and keeping the space comfortable though I did have it running on maximum. In my workshop, I don’t need to use the full capacity for cooling. There I just set a temperature and it switches on and off as needed. 14000 BTU is a joke

Not impressed. Nothing good to say. Negatives are this item can't even keep a 12x14 ft room cold. Has shut itself off and tripped the breaker several times. The waste heat output is INSANE. The vent coil for the window adaptor is shoddy and keeps falling out of the connection ring, which means all the heat is dumped right back into the space its cooling. Out of the box, this seems like a well-built product. It is easy to maneuver; while hefty not as heavy as I anticipated. I bought this to cool my large living room and adjacent dining room — not disappointed in the capacity of this machine to cool things down in short order. For a 14000 btu unit, very quiet operation even at high fan setting. Some negatives: 1. No instruction manual; 2. Hose connections to the fittings are terrible — hard to put on and keep on. Once properly secured they are ok; but without an installation manual it’s not good; 3. Window kit for the exhaust hose supplied does not anticipate narrow casement openings. My casement windows are only 20” wide; so needed to do some customization (required extra outlay). No insulation for window exhaust kit; no AAA batteries for the control. On balance, the product performance and quality outweighs negatives (at least for me). However, definitely potential problems with the exhaust hose and window installation kit --- i needed to purchase a 1"x1" square wood dowel in order to properly seat the exhaust in the casement window; purchase air conditioner insulation; cut the supplied thermoplastic exhaust fascia down to 20". ... show more

Cools a 400 sq foot space quickly and consistently

Having a historical home is wonderful but challenging in different ways. It’s easy to heat our 125 year old home but harder to keep it cool and no great way to renovate for central air. When our ugly window unit stopped working chose a portable in room unit as a replacement. The window installation kit was easy, even though my window sizes are not standard it was easy to install. And I’m not sacrificing as much sunlight and visibility through the window. The unit is 30” and I chose white, which does not look bad next to my off white walls and blends in. It’s 70 pounds but easy to move. I am not using the dehumidifier function or really the remote control. With a thermostat, it’s set it and forget it. Powerful portable AC

This works so well. I bought it for my attic that my regular air conditioning that can't keep up with. Even when the ac was on full blast it struggled to get the temperature below 80 on really hot days and that's where my office is and it makes it really tough to get work done. With this portable ac running it easily keeps the right temperature and it can even get lower than I need if we have someone sleeping in there. It was so easy to install. It literally took 2 minutes. Strong and quite large

This thing is a beast. It cools my room without a problem but it takes up quite a bit of floor space. It’s also worth noting that it pulls a lot of electricity. My light bill went up significantly after I started using this and because it’s such a strong air conditioner it’s constantly blowing fuses and turning off lights. My house is pretty old, from like the 1920s, so the wiring can’t handle the pull of this ac, but if you have a more modern home you should be okay.(I counter this by gradually increasing the power; I start with the low fan and I work my way up to the cooling function with the high fan.)
