Always wanted a dehydrator machine so I finally got one after comparing several other models. The machine received is very well made, sleek and not super heavy which is good. The size is about roughly the same as a microwave. I followed a recipe online to make a three times steamed and dehydrated apple slices that was popular on the internet. I chopped my apples into slices then rotated between dehydrating and steaming them for about 30 mins each for three rounds. The result was quite devious, it was slightly juicy while still retaining all the apples own flavors. Was sad that I didn’t more. I’m planning to use the machine to make dried orange slices dipped in white chocolate which has also been very popular for a long time but haven’t gotten to try. I wasn’t able to buy fresh oranges so I was planning to wait til summer to make them. I like how the box came with a small full colored recipe book that has really good instructions and ideas on how to use the machine such as watermelon, kiwis, blueberries, fruit rolls and meat jerkies. It came with 6 trays which is really nice as you can make a larger quantity at once. Also came with 2 mats, 2 containers and 2 set of silicone glove. The machine is very quiet when running and you can set up the temperature and time to run. The maximum temperature goes only to 190F. Even running at the highest temperature, the outside stays cool and I feel safe and not worried that it’ll catch on fire. There is also a light function so you can see the inside when running which is so cool. Overall, I think this is a good buy. I've used those round stackable plastic dehydrators for the last couple of decades; they do the job. However, I was blown away that it took 6 hours to make Beef Jerky in this dehydrator, when the old plastix towers took a minimum of 12 hours. Apple slices and bananas took 6 hours as well. Fruit leather was done in 4. What a game changer! Let me break down this machine: Build: the whole interior is stainless steel, even the shelves. Easy to wash, and no plastic touching your food. It is about the size of an early 2000s microwave, and could easily be stored away in a cabinet. That does not mean this is small, because it has 6 trays roughly 12" square. The machine is very retro looking. Features: This is a set-and-forget machine. There are buttons with a digital display that take the guesswork out of dehydrating your treats. It automatically turns off after it reaches the time you have set, too! That means delicious, healthy snacks produced while you are at work, without having to worry about them. I would like to point out that I purchased this when there was a deal going on for an extra free tray (that's why you'll see 7 trays.) All in all, this machine is amazing. We have made loads of snacks that the kids have enjoyed, and I love knowing it wasn't full of chemicals or junk. You will also find some oven mitts, a recipe book, non-stick mats, and two storage containers in your box. Word to the wise: do not put thin fruit leather puree on those mats! It definitely stuck. Grab a silicone baking sheet or some parchment. This would be great for a dorm, apartment, or small house because of the size. I got it for our homestead. Good little machine; I just dehydrate for me so it's perfect for my needs. Comes with details for a variety of foods; I've found that one can go longer or shorter (on time) depending on personal preference. It's fun to experiment. Any fruits, veggies, etc., not mentioned in the booklet can be easily found on line for temps/times. Fits easily on my kitchen counter then stows away in the cupboard, not taking up too much space. Comes with two plastic containers; should have been four, but similar ones are easily procured - I already had something similar. This food dehydrator was given to me as a Christmas gift so I could dehydrate my own fruits, vegetables, and meats. So far I have used it only for apples, but it worked very well and was easy to use. I ordered extra silicone tray liners to make cleanup easier and they worked very well. It is fairly small and compact so it doesn’t take up too much countertop space, which I like. It is quiet when it runs and does not heat up the room. It is a great food dehydrator for a beginner like me. Five stars! ... show more

This dehydrator is the perfect size for my countertop. It does not hog the entire surface and can be easily stored in my lower cupboard when I'm not using it. The six silver metal mesh trays are tightly woven so I don't need to buy any of those mesh inserts. They are also a perfect square so it's easy to slide in and out. I can dehydrate two small heads of kale in one go. I tend to cook at about 120 degrees, so I have not ever needed the potholders that were included. The price was right, at $129.99 and it looks like it can be purchased for even less, such as black Friday and cyber-Monday. My only complaint is that once in a while I can hear a strange banging noise, as if the internal fan is laying too close to the outer/side metal casing and is touching it. By the time I get to the dehydrator to investigate, it usually stops. If it keeps up then I will remove the casing myself and investigate...but, other than that, I love everything about this dehydrator. ... show more
