  • Needed to use an adhesive... yay
The pack that is supposed to hold the batterys onto the door, will not stay on the door and continues to fall off. I had to use duct tape... on a brand new safe. Other than that being irritating, everything works as its supposed to. Just need it to keep my kids away from my guns.

  • This is a nice little safe.
This is a nice little safe for locking up my important documents and my laptop. I use this almost on a daily basis. I would have rated this 5 stars except for the fact that when I received it, the electronic lock did not work. I actually bolted the thing to the floor and the wall before I attempted to use the electronic lock. Instead of unbolting the whole thing, packing it up and sending it back I found that there was a red wire hanging down from the inner case so I unscrewed the inner case and discovered that when they put the inner metal case on to protect the electronics, the red power wire actually was partially outside, so when they screwed down that case tight, the metal case cut the power wire. So I was faced with a decision. Either unbolt the whole thing, send it back and wait for a replacement. Or just perform a simple fix to connect the wires together. So instead of spending another hour to remove the safe I just reconnected the wires and now everything works perfectly. This problem could have been avoided if the manufacturer had tested the electronic lock after assembly and before they shipped the safe. ... show more

  • Standard 15.6" laptop won't fit in door
Bought this for my son to use in his dorm to secure that crazy expensive laptop I had to buy for his major in Aerospace Engineering. Carefully read the dimensions before buying this safe, only to find out after the return window had expired that the PC which came in last week won't fit! The interior dimensions are right and the laptop should have fit with ease except there is a metal lip that extends around the opening that eats up enough of the opening, that there is no way to get the laptop inside it, even trying to put it in diagonally. So my son has a safe for everything else except the one thing I specifically wanted to put in it. Plus I agree with some other posters that this thing looks super easy to pry your way into with little effort and is certainly easy enough to carry away to do it in the comfort of your thieve's den. ... show more

  • Very secure and easy to use
Very sturdy, easy to use. You can set your own keypad code to access. It also comes with 2 keys for access if you want. You'll need the key access at some point. The keypad operates on batteries with access on the inside. It has 2 holes in the back and 2 on the bottom for you to screw down to secure the safe. I drilled an additional 2 holes in the side to secure it to the side beam of my wall. ... show more

  • Functional safe for preventing petty theft
Right size, good price. You might see something like this in a hotel room for a guest to use. For preventing petty theft it'll get the job done. Some annoyances: The door was jammed shut with a piece of plastic, probably for shipping, but the manual doesn't mention it. The manual also says clockwise instead of counter-clockwise in a few places. So there was an unpleasant 5 minutes of trying to get the door open, half-convinced I'd need to send it back. Compared to a similar safe I bought from a price warehouse, this one is a little underwhelming. The metal is about 3/10th cm thick; my other safe is over 4/10ths. The bolts and hinges seem about the same. The manual also says that they do NOT recommend bolting it to both a wall and floor. They don't say why. My other safe strongly recommends it be mounted to a wall AND floor/permanent shelf, and clearly that would make it harder to steal. The other one also came with batteries. If you lose your key, you can get a new one by sending them a check, your safe's serial number and a notarized note. Which is nice but the other safe's manufacturer also demands a driver's license, copy of receipt, and the key #. That seems a little harder to abuse. Let's face it, if I didn't have the other safe to compare to I would have been happy with this one. And I am keeping it. It's a decent safe for preventing petty theft. A determined burglar could deal with either of my safes, but this would be the easier one. ... show more

  • Well made, high quality, good value.
I did a lot of research before buying a personal home safe. I wasn't crazy about battery-operated safes, but that seems unavoidable if you want quick, keypad access. The Sentry takes 4 AA batteries, which are common, inexpensive, and I always have a supply around the house. This safe seems well made, especially for the price, and after reading the instructions, I quickly set it up with my own code. The keys work fine, and the battery compartment is easily accessible on the inside of the safe door. I would have given it 5 stars except for two things: 1) I would prefer it if the beep tones emitted when the keypad is used would be defeatable. They are not. 2) I would have prefered all-metal construction. The plactic keypad and knob section of the door function properly but do not inspire confidence. But I suppose this would have made the safe somewhat more costly. Overall a high-value, well-made product that I would recommend if one needs a small, inexpensive safe in one's home. ... show more

  • Keypad doesn’t work
I have used this safe three times - opening and closing. And the interior of the safe has fallen apart - meaning the wires will no longer connect inside the safe making it impossible to use the keypad to lock it up. You have to use the manual key to open and unlock. Useless. Better not lose the key.

  • Not made well
Safe metal is thin. Holes in back in order to secure to a wall are large and if not used to attach to wall let things the size of a fat hamster into the safe. Important papers would end up eaten or rotted due to the ventilation issue. Door on the safe/hinges poorly made. We could not even get the door to open without lifting and shaking the safe open because the door was so poorly attached to main piece. This meant if secured to a wall anything you put in the safe was impossible to retrieve again. Over all very poorly constructed. The only good thing was the dimension of the safe. ... show more
