Clear speaking sound. Only for casual backgroung music listening. Not for hifi. Listeners can hear me clearly.

  • Good for phone calls
Style: Headset Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
As a professional who works 8-12 hours a day on the phone, I can recommend this device for phone calls. As far as your taste for sound quality for music and movies goes, your level of satisfaction will follow. Please, notice that my review refers to phone calls; I would not even dream about using the unit for music or movies. After Sennheiser discontinued the PC-230, this replaced a potential replacement, an extremely sturdy $46.99 MRD headset that I was forced to return, as it was too bass-heavy for phone calls (the bass supressed the treble) and no good for music or movies (sound resembled a source coming from a barrel). COMFORT AND SOUND QUALITY: Too bad, it cannot replace the discontinued PC-230 when it comes to comfort and sound quality. The drivers are 1cm smaller, which results in lower dynamics, while the inferior drivers produce poorer quality (unsophisticated, rough sound). As the mid-range dominates, the device is definitely suitable for phone calls. The pressure over the ear is less distributed than on the 230, primarily b/o the smaller surface. As an open-air design, your ears can breathe while using the headset. BUILD QUALITY: The good news is that Sennheiser eliminated the in-line volume control that developed contact problems after a few months. Too bad, the rotating microphone that allows you to mute the unit on a call has not been eliminated, because after a few months, the contact usually goes bad on that as well. A flexible arm would do the job and all sources include a mute option as well as a volume control... However, the price is at least right and Sennheiser usually honors the two-year warranty, although that involves digging up the receipt, filling out a form, and some wait. WISH LIST: I just wish Sennheiser 1. used the drivers from the PC-230 that produce a fuller, more balanced and realistic sound; 2. used a flexible arm for the microphone, thus eliminating the major weaknesses on its "low-end" headsets 3. sold the device with a 2.5mm phone jack option (preferably a 90-degree one) that would further eliminate typical problems (in order to keep the sound quality for my phone calls, I am forced to use Headset Buddy that needs frequent replacement, but it has no competition). For sound quality, the manufacturer does not seem to have any decent competing products, which seems to make it lazy to make the logical alterations in the design. ... show more

  • Considering the price, one should not complain.
Style: Headset Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
The sound is mediocre but not bad. It was made for meetings, in other words, to hear that limited range of frequency of human voice, compressed in a low band stream. For what it was designed to do, it does. It would be unfair to judge beyond its purpose. Don't expect sound quality, noise cancelation or comfort. What you get paying $10 on it is economy, reliability and a fair capacity to hear and talk in a video conference. ... show more

  • It doesn't get much better unless you spend a lot more
Style: Headset Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
First of all, this headset has two jacks - headphones and mic. Make sure your computer has two jacks. If your laptop or computer has a single jack, then search for this: ‎B07GBTY82Q If you are looking for the USB version, then get this: B005HWEZGG What I like: 1. Boom mic reaches all the way to my mouth. 2. This has old school noise cancellation and it works really well. Conference attendees can't hear me typing away on my mechanical keyboard - they don't ask me to go on mute anymore. There are two ports on the boom mic: One facing my mouth and the other facing away. If you want to study how this works, search "Noise-canceling_microphone" on wiki. There is no electronic magic going on and no batteries are needed. 3. Springy enough to snugly fit on my head, yet loose enough to not give me a headache or twist my glasses. Widely adjustable. 4. Obviously, these are not for music - bass doesn't really come through. Perfectly tuned for the midrange - vocals and voice come through really well. 5. The cable is 7 feet long! What I don't like: 1. No Volume Control, but that's okay. 2. Packaging was a pain to open with 2-3 twist ties added for good measure. It looks inexpensive because it is inexpensive. ... show more

  • Excellent VOIP headset (with rj9 to 3.5mm female adapter), superb mic, staff love them, warm sound
Style: Headset Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
We deployed around five of these to a crisis call center location a year or so ago in response to complaints about audio quality from our staff and inbound callers. Since installation it's been smooth sailing, with reports from staff finding that it isolates outside noise well enough, sits comfortably on their ears, and features a surprisingly high quality microphone to boot. Our polycom phones required a rj9 to 3.5mm female adapter but those were cheap enough that this still seemed to be a better deal than the regular headsets we were using (plantronics). After hearing the quality and getting reports back from staff of how comfortable they were we were thrilled to have purchased them. I actually purchased ten or more for our backup training headsets and replacement headsets for other staff members to have on hand. They're great but keep in mind there's no volume control on it and you will require the 3.5mm aux ports for hookup which could be a deal breaker to some. For us due to the sound quality (from the mic and the headset drivers) this is a justifiable compromise. Personally I'm surprised at the drivers they packed into this headset. I use these on my desktop at work as well due to how lightweight they are and the warm sound signature. For the price you just can't beat these. ... show more

  • For the price these are an unbeatable value
Style: Headset Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
One thing to remember about these PC type headphones is that they're only as good as the Digital-Analog converter that is driving them. That's probably why USB headphones are sometimes so disappointing. I usually run these on a fairly high-end DAW audio interface as well as for my usual conference calling audio. With a good interface (DA converter) these sound almost as good as my Q701 reference headphones. In fact for most casual listening, some will actually prefer the cheapo Sennheiser's. They are very light and way more comfortable than over the ear headphones for long sessions, and the EQ is not a fatiguing as reference headphones. For what these are selling for I cannot recommend them enough. A fast food meal costs more than these headphones! ... show more
