  • So Much Control
Color: Red Lens Color: Invikta (Elongated Shape)
I had a Head paddle before this one. The Selkirk Vanguard Power Air gives me much more control so i am able to increase my ball spin a lot.

  • Great Pickleball paddle
Color: Red Lens Color: Invikta (Elongated Shape)
I was a bit disappointed in the slow delivery, about 10 days. Also, friends who ordered the exact item received lead tape to use help change the weight…I did not receive that. Finally, spending $250 for a paddle I expected to also receive a protective cover, but did not🤷🏼♂️😓

  • Excellent paddle... for someone else. Not as amazing as I thought it was going to be
Color: Red Lens Color: Invikta (Elongated Shape)
I've played with the Selkirk Halo and EVO series paddles, so I had high expectations for their higher end paddle. To be honest, I felt a little disappointed after test-playing with this paddle for two games. On paper it has all the features that should add up to a great paddle that gives you lots of power without sacrificing too much control. The trademark smile-shaped hole near the handle should lessen wind resistance, and the lack of an edge guard should cut down some weight. In fact, this paddle does feel nice and light, and practice swings make you feel like you could hit the ball out of the park, so to speak. To my surprise, I wasn't impressed with the power generation. Increased power is there, but you definitely have to use good mechanics to access it. This can be good or bad, depending on what kind of player you are. Let me explain. Some paddles sort of do all the work for you, providing effortless power which you have to learn how to control and reign in. Other paddles reward good mechanics and provide awesome power when your technique is solid. This Vanguard Power Air is definitely in the second category. So if you have consistently flawless technique, this might be the power paddle for you. But if you're looking for something more forgiving, this paddle isn't the best choice. Because "Power" is part of the name, I expected tons of power at my disposal. That wasn't my experience. I found myself falling back on a control game instead of putting more pace on returns and serves. In my opinion, this is a better control paddle than a power paddle, but that's probably due to the way I play. Spin was good but not awesome as I was expecting. There are many excellent paddles available at half the price as this one which give you much greater spin potential. Some with control: the Vanguard gives you good control, but there are other paddles that give you more exceptional control. Immediately prior to playing with this paddle I tested another T700 carbon fiber paddle that has the same price tag, and I after playing with both paddles I was surprised at the difference. Going in I expected I'd prefer the Selkirk Vanguard, but I definitely got better power, spin and control from the other paddle. With the other paddle my serves and returns had noticeably more pop, and my slice returns were more effective. I felt like I had better ball placement with the other paddle compared to the Vanguard. Having played with the Selkirk Halo and EVO series paddles, to me the Selkirk Vanguard felt very similar to those less-expensive paddles. Put another way, the EVO paddles are less than half the price of the Vanguard, and I honestly couldn't find any significantly different about the Vanguard that would justify the extra expense. The Halo compares even more closely to the Vanguard. Paddle reviews are very subjective because everyone's game is different. That's why you often find some reviewers who love a particular paddle, while other reviewers hate it. The Vanguard is an excellent paddle, and I'm sure it would be a great fit for someone whose game suited the paddle's strengths. For me it isn't a good match. But at this price I expect a paddle to be perfect, and for my style of play, it isn't. That doesn't make this a bad paddle. It just means it's not right for me. One dink (pun intended) against this paddle. In my opinion, it's inexcusable that a paddle this expensive does not come with a cover. ... show more
