The fence company had installed the gate with an aluminum latch that lasted 15 years under mild use but bent and wore out. This latch will outlast the plastic fence even under heavy use. Easy to install. Screws are self drilling and went through the metal sleeve on the inside of the plastic post. I would purchase this again if needed.

This is quite different than the standard latches that go on the back of a gate. This one goes on the side, allowing it to self lock. Great feature, but this also requires the gate to freely open and close, as my gate will take some adjustments to make this happen. Really like how solid this is! And yet a very simple design that does the job!
