I recently built a short fence, separating our side yard from the backyard. I used these hinges on the gate…it’s about 40” long and 36” high, so it’s not very heavy. So far - for about the last two months - they’re working perfectly. The gate closes smoothly and gently, but with enough force to activate the latch. It’s still Fall and we haven’t had much rain, but I don’t see any rust or other corrosion..I expect these to last a long time. ... show more

We needed a pet/baby gate for our deck. We had a door that we cut to fit the opening and added this self closing hardware. It was easy to install and the self-closure works great. I subtracted one star because the kit was 4 screws short. We founds some that we had in the garage that worked, but they don’t completely match. ... show more

I'm really impressed with how sturdy this gate hardware kit is. I've installed it on an extremely heavy, 10-foot wide, 4-foot tall farm gate made from a re-used industrial wooden pallet, and the hinges are holding up fine! Pro installation tip: if you're hanging a heavy gate, swap out the short screws that come with the hinges for longer decking screws. The self-closing feature also seems to work as advertised.     • Solid Hinges
The hinges are solid and sturdy and should hold up well. I was not impressed by the screws provided to mount the hinges, so I picked up black lag bolts at Lowe's (1/4 x 1.5 inch) prior to installation. Overall pleased.

    • Great discrete hinges
These hinges are much better than the old large spring that had to be connected to the post and then the gate. These are hidden, do just as well on a heavy gate door, and are much less scary to adjust. I didn't use the included hardware, but the screws themselves look to be fine enough for most gate installs. The latch also appears to be a run-of-the-mill latch, I ended up using a front and back self-closing latch. ... show more

I needed a replacement latch for my gate, so I didn't install the hinges from this kit but upon removing the product from the packaging, I found that this Self-Closing Heavy Duty Gate Hardware Kit is quite heavy and looks quite heavy duty. It comes in a no-frills plastic bag with a bar code sticker, which is just as well. No need for fancy packaging here. The gate latch comes in three parts: the latch itself, a bar that goes into the latch, and a square plate that the bar attaches to. The bar is hinged so that it can move up and down in the square plate so that if the gate warps in the future, it will still be able to latch successfully. It will take some time to tell if the matte black coating will come off, but so far, it looks like it will hold. There really isn't much else to say. Buy this if you need a gate latch kit.     • Easy to install and very sturdy
The self-closing hinges work well on my gate, the metal is heavy duty and strong. The hinges are easy to adjust and I am not seeing any drift downward on the gate. I do suggest using better screws, the ones included have too small of a head for reliable hold it seems.
