I chose this particular fireplace primarily because it matches my furniture almost perfectly. It actually does look like a piece of fine furniture, so I'm extremely happy with the appearance. It was relatively easy to assemble and took about 45 minutes (with the help of an experienced construction worker, which makes a huge difference timewise). All pieces were well marked for assembly, and in excellent condition. It's not quite as big as I had pictured in my mind, but that's completely my error and in no way reflects negatively on the merchandise or the seller. It's big enough and stays cool enough that I put my 75" Samsung OLED TV and sound bar on it (using a stand with a flat base). A big screen will NOT fit on it without a stand, because it's not long enough or deep enough for the legs that come with those TVs. That's not a negative in my opinion, since a stand is sturdier and more flexible anyway, but just something to keep in mind if you plan to put your TV there. The fire doesn't look real, obviously, but it looks a lot more real than most electric fireplaces I've seen. It puts out an okay amount of heat, but I also choose to place it in an extremely large room so obviously the heat won't be as noticeable. I therefore wouldn't recommend it for actually heating a large room, but it would do well for heating an average sized room. The thermostat on it goes up to 82 and is very easily adjusted on the unit itself or by remote; it also works with my Alexa, but I didn't set that up because it seems unnecessary for my purposes. While the unit itself doesn't put out as much heat as I expected, it does keep the thermostat from kicking on as often, thus saving on overall heating costs. It does not get hot at all beyond the heating area, which is a big plus in my opinion. I can see a slight decrease in my heating bill, but I'm sure the heating bill difference would be much greater if I had a smaller home, or if my home were only one story. I am considering buying additional fireplaces from this same brand, for other areas of my home. Any negatives noted are all due to my own choices. If I were to move it to a bedroom, for example, it would likely be able to provide all the heat needed for that area. While it wasn't inexpensive, it's far less expensive than similar ones I've seen in furniture stores. I actually can't tell any difference in the quality between this and the expensive units in furniture stores, unless theirs possibly emits more heat (I don't know if they do or not). I was very pleasantly surprised at how it looks, because once assembled, it actually does look like it was purchased from a furniture store. Overall, I highly recommend it, and am very happy with the purchase. I say this with the caveat that for heating purposes it's better intended for normal sized rooms. For larger areas it works better as a focal point piece, with the bonus of being able to warm up quickly by standing in front of it after coming in from the cold. ... show more

Fireplace works well with Alexa. However, many of the surround pieces were incorrectly drilled. It was too much hassle to return so we made some pieces into a different design but it doesn't look as good. Quality control on a $600 plus item should be much better.
