I have had this item for a week now and I’m loving it. You can operate it by remote or the controls on the actual product. There are three color modes for both the logs and the flames. You can also chose them separately. For instance you could have blue flames with red logs. It has two heat settings and effectively warms up the 500ish square foot area I have it in. At the time I am writing this review the heater has been running on the high heat setting for about 3.5 hours and the sides and back are cool to the touch. The top of it is warm but wouldn’t hurt anyone. You can definitely tell that it’s a fake fire but even heaters that are 2 or 3 times more expensive that this one, you can still tell they are fake. I don’t anticipate it requiring too much power but I’ll look at my bill after a month or two and update it it’s sucking down a ton of electricity. All around it’s a great little heater, looks nice in your home and is priced appropriately. ... show more

There are so many models out there, but I took a chance on this one. It delivered. Very easy set-up, pretty good heat and it looks GREAT. I tested mine with an amps/watts meter. Heat setting 1 was 497 watts, heat setting 2 was 1297 watts and no heat (flames only) was 12 watts. The nearer you are to the heat, the more you will feel it. There are a lot of choices for flame colors, brightness and flame speed. My personal favorite is the default setting - orange/red - fast, bright flames. I like the fact that you can position the logs and the crystals yourself (not just one big lump). This one sits in my garage (converted to a music/game/guest room). It instantly makes the room come alive when I turn the flames on. I like this model so well that I have ordered 2 more. They will sit in real fireplaces in my home that I have not used for years because I don't like the smoke (and neither does my allergies), mess and hassle of the upkeep. The price is reasonable, and I don't have to alter my real fireplaces in case I need to build wood fires (you never know these days). The remote works well - you don't have to touch the console. The one thing our new house didn't have was a fireplace. This one is a great substitute. The steel frame, the design, the side views, and the many options for the look of the wood and flames are fantastic. The heater is pretty weak, and I'm in the south. It actually blows a decent temperature, the problem is that it blows almost straight up. I guess if it's in a small room that's not a problem, there's a decent chance the room will heat up. If you're hoping to feel the heat cozied up to it, you probably won't. Not the best design for the heater. The 25" is a good size, could pass for a smaller wood stove. The media could not be loaded. Bought this as a gift for my wife to warm the office/sunroom in our 1920s era house. Looks the part and does a good job of warming things up. Really fits in with the home's decor. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality for the price and it arrived in perfect condition, excellent finish and well packaged. The flames look great and have a lot of adjustability (though I doubt we'll ever use the blue flame option). Superb 3D effect and you can see through the side panels. Nice adjustability of the heat output and the remote works great. Really like that there is no obnoxious company nameplate on the front and the finger controls are hidden behind the door... maintains the vintage look and feel. Small item, but something that cinched it for me... METAL LEGS!! The much more expensive and well-reviewed option from Duraflame comes with plastic legs. That would have detracted from the whole appearance and been a durability concern. Overall, the R.W. Flame unit feels very sturdy and well made. Heartily recommended. ... show more

The heater itself is great, works the way it’s meant to and looks fantastic. However, the first one I received was missing the bolts to attach the legs and was in the incorrect color. They sent a replacement that was again in the wrong color. I would like the correct color, but getting a third replacement seems ridiculous and likely to again be wrong.
