First the good - it's easy to learn how to ride. I got very good, very quickly, and I do like to go for a spin every evening. It's loads of fun and unlike any other vehicle I have. It's got great lighting features, it handles well, it is solidly constructed. After about a week of practicing, I feel like I have all of the features down and understand how to use and ride. Now the bad. Segway, an American company, was purchased by Ninebot, so this vehicle is made in China. My first one had a remote control that wouldn't pair. Not that you'll use the remote control much, but there's a remote control tutorial that's required before the maximum speed allowed increases from about 6 mph to 11 mph. I was effectively stuck with using the device at half its potential. Segway customer service was OK, but they were slow and probably could have sent me a new remote control over night, but didn't. Amazon, on the other hand, was awesome. I contacted them and they immediately agreed to send me a replacement. Now, it was slated to arrive in six weeks, but thankfully, only took about a week. But i was still left with the hassle of disassembling my original one and shipping it back. Back to the speed limiter. The device maxes about about 11 mph. As you approach that speed, the device slows down and beeps. A lot of my rides consist of constantly making myself slow down. Maybe I just haven't adapted to the pace of Segway riding, but I'd like it to be able to go faster. I have a Lectric Bike that was about $200 more. It's much more versatile and came problem-free. That being said, I like my Segway and don't really regret buying it. It's a blast, just a bit limited in what you can do on it. EDIT: I've now had my Segway for a couple of months. I edited this review from 2 stars to 5. My initial complaint about the capability was understandable, but after riding it for several weeks I concluded that I have to realize what I bought. It's not a bike, it's a self-balancing transporter. Truth is, now that i've ridden it for a while, I've developed the ability to just automatically maintain a fun, constant speed, and I've come to really enjoy it for what it is.

I love these things. I have 2 now! Out of the box they kinda suck, too slow and beeps alot, but if you pay for the 3ed party software mod it's all fixed. After the mod you get the full 16mph and no more annoying beeps. The thing is so fun to ride, and it always turns heads. I especially love the dog follow mode. You can just walk around it follows you. Just a dream to ride, and great range!

This SEGWAY MINIPRO S-PLUS offered at $625 by Amazon Prime two scroll windows down from the EXACT SAME model offered by Amazon Prime at $925. I thought the price difference was extreme but who am I to question the supply chain economics of the world’s largest warehouser. So, I won’t keep you in suspense; the price difference is because the $625 units are old and their batteries are no good. At least that was the deal with mine. It unboxed fine and had no indications of bad batteries upon putting a full charge on it. But, after getting stranded at 6 miles range on an errand and two other full charges with similar results in ideal conditions I wanted a speedy return and replacement of this prime product. I’ve been fighting Amazon for a week now and they made me box it ($85) and ship it (they sent label) and are refusing to replace it until they receive it. AND NOW IT’S LISTED AT $699 on the cheaper listing. This was supposed to be my transportation to a new job after being on disability for three years from a nerve injury. I spent all my savings on this thing (I can ride them well and used a Minipro S for transport here before my injury). No buses to my work and I can’t afford Lyfts every day. I begged Amazon to track my INSURED and boxed by UPS return and just send me a new unit. They refused. Multiple times.

I'd give it 5 stars but the beeping. I used to skateboard and can balance just fine. Tight turns, skidding out etc "beep". It is very beginner friendly though. Also it should be a little more open and perhaps trigger and respond to triggered events etc.

i am 64 years old. i originally purchased a S +, in December of 2019, also bought the Ninebot S (not the S+) for my significant other, we both absolutely LOVE them. we have since sold the S, and just purchased our second S +. we take them everywhere, camp grounds, outdoor shopping, doctors appointments, virtually anywhere we have "downtime" waiting, or time to just enjoy being out. would highly recommend this........
