I've spent the last couple months looking at different eScooters. To date I have owned 4 - the Segway G30P and G30LP, the NIU KQUi3 Max, and the Segway P65, the latter of which is my favorite so far. Quick background - I'm over 6 ft (2M) tall, and 175 lb (80 Kg). Here's what I like about the P65: Power - this is a very beefy scooter - the motor / battery combination provide great top-end speed of about 25 mph (40 km/h), which was quite a bit faster than both the G30P and the G30LP, and slightly faster than the KQi3 Max. All these scooters give you ways to limit the top-end speed, both by adjusting the ride mode from the console on the scooter, as well as inside the app. What I like about the P65 is that the app also allows you a way to customize the P65's power onset from low to high, allowing you to set how much power you want the scooter to engage when you throttle up. Battery life - in my experience with real-world riding in my area (long stretches of flat/low-incline road with some smaller hills), the battery life lasts pretty well. I can commute to my job from home, a 12 mi roundtrip in about 5-7 min longer on this scooter than it takes in my car due to available bike lanes and shortcuts through parks. The trip there is mostly downhill and trip home is mostly, which consumes about 65% of battery life on this scooter. The KQi3 was comparable (though for reasons I describe below I was unable to test thoroughly), while the G30P has only 20% capacity left at the end of that ride, and the G30LP was almost completely out of power by the time I was done. Design - ultimately this area is why I decided to write a review. I actually bought the NIU KQi3 Max based on the feedback another individual posted to this product on Amazon and boy, did I regret doing so! While the Segway P65 and NIU KQi3 cosmetic look similar, offer about the same deck length/width, a similar-looking console, and nearly the same motor and battery capacity, having ridden both scooters I can say they are actually very different and in my opinion, the P65 is far superior, as follows: BRAKES: the KQi3 Max uses a rear disk brake versus P65 uses a rear drum/electronic brake. The rear disk brake on the KQi3 Max locked up about 2 miles into my first ride on it, which overheated and warped the disk rotor to go out-of-round to the point where it was rubbing against the brake caliper, which slowed down the top speed to 20 mph and created an unsafe riding condition. I've ridden over 40 miles on the P65 so far and have had no braking issues, even in hard brake situations. Controls: The P65 offers a much more robust control environment compared to the G30LP and G30P, though all three offer a single-handed braking system. The KQi3 has a somewhat comparable control environment to the P65, but with fewer features as well as a two-hand braking system. The P65 also offers turn signals, cruise control, multi-brightness adaptable headlights; which none of the other models have. The P65 also has an antitheft feature that doesn't rely on using the app to unlock the scooter for use; this is not available in the KQi3 Max. Granted, some may view the P65's advantages as bells and whistles (do you really need cruise control?). But, I personally think the app-free anti-theft feature on the P65 are easy to use, which increases the odds that I will actually use them. I'm not too keen on fiddling with my phone every time I use my eScooter, and had disabled the app-related security features on the KQi3 Max before first use, which seems to miss the point entirely. And, having used the turn signals and single-hand brakes, I believe they are critical safety features for keeping both hands on the eScooter while zipping around on roads in traffic. Lastly, I want to thank Amazon for its great customer service as I've tried out these different eScooters. I kept the G30P because my wife likes it, and this way we can ride together. I returned the G30LP because the shorter steering column and shorter deck felt cramped to both of us, and the lower battery capacity really couldn't keep up with the G30P, which meant we kept having to cut our rides short. Finally, I returned the NIU KQi3 Max because of the braking issue. Amazon handled every return professionally! ... show more

    • Excellent build quality and an overall very good scooter
I own a Segway P100S and a Segway GT1. I have also previously owned two Ninebot Max G30P scooters. I have over 2,000 combined models on Segway branded scooters. Segway build quality is phenomenal. It’s simply better than any other scooter company out there. The P100S is a great scooter, with a few caveats. The torsion bar suspension on the P100S is not nearly as effective as the coil spring suspension on the GT1. It provides a much smoother ride than something like a Ninebot Max, which has no suspension at all. But if you are coming from a GT series scooter it’s going to be a little disappointing. I would prefer to see a hydraulic suspension on the next version of a P-series scooter. At 73 pounds this scooter is not light. It does fold down reasonably compact, and I’m able to fit it in the back seat of my car. It’s too big for the trunk of my sedan. At top speed I can get around 28-30 miles of range, riding mostly flat terrain at 160 pound rider weight. At more moderate speeds I can get over 40 miles of range on it. 62 miles is unrealistic unless you want to ride 10 mph the entire time. With KERS enabled I rarely need to use the mechanical disc brakes, which work fine. However at this price point I would have liked to see hydraulic brakes on this model. The cruise control is very easy to use. The headlight is bright enough for night time use. The deck is a bit smaller than I would have liked for my size 12 feet but it’s adequate. The GT1 deck is 1.5” wider and much more comfortable. Early models have a problem with the rear fender coming loose. The current model has a redesigned fender that so far has been rock solid for me. The unit has a thumb control, which is more comfortable to operate than a trigger throttle. The GT1 has a twist throttle which I prefer over the thumb throttle as it allows me to keep my hand in a more comfortable position. If you use cruise control you can give your thumb a rest. Should you buy the P100S? The answer is it depends on the price. Amazon was running a $1,499 special on it for several months. At that price it was a good deal. At full retail of $1,999 I think it’s overpriced. The GT1 is currently on sale at Segway for the same price as the P100S, making it a much better value overall. The only downside to the GT1 is it weighs 101 pounds vs the P100S at 73 pounds. If you can live with the higher weight, the GT1 will give you a much smoother ride, a wider deck, a more effective suspension, and a higher top speed. Overall the GT1 is far superior in every way other than portability. ... show more

This is AWESOME!! Smooth ride fast enough for me. Running errands on this is awesome, the lights, the horn, charging cord, acceleration, stopping, bumps, sidewalks, speed bumps all awesome, fits in small space in garage, very sturdy. I haven't taken it very far yet so I cant speak for battery life or distance. The alarm is very sensitive if someone tries to take it, it will get some attention. If they did take it without a code or the card they are not gonna ride it very far. I had an electric goped for years. This blows it out of the water in every category. I was almost considering the P100 or the GT2. For the price difference, the weight and the cost; not sure if it’s worth it. The shocks would be nice but this thing really rides very smooth. I dont know if in an urban environment you can go much faster than 23mph on the P65. ... show more
